Last day of VBS Christmas Season....such good lessons on the Advent and baby Jesus. Thanks galore go to Shelby Brawner and Brooke Everett for their direction - along with many others who participated. This last day we visited a Bibletime Market with 5 different stops where the kids could take their coins and check-off card for each stop. Then a pizza and huge charteuterie board for refreshements. A great VBS!

Things occur before you know it! You get in a drift - things go a certain way grdually or fierce, can be a slippery slope per chance. "To drift" - the definition says a continuous movement from one place to another, sometimes loosing bearings, being unaware. Kind of like a rip tide of sins...we are in a spot before we know it. Plunged into a pit by little steps at a time. There's a lot of danger living in the drift.....
How do we drift? *We get away from Godly influences. *We separate from good relationships for others. *We don't comitt our whole heart and sould to God. *We stop praying. *We skip attending church services. *We lose focus on God.
Hebrews 10:25 - Don't give up meeting together in praise, we need others to lift us up.
1 John 2:16 - Don't follow the world.
Hebrews 2:1 - Devote yourself & comitt.
1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober and alert. Be stong in the Lord. Meditate on His word.

In Sunday School today, the kids painted a tote box for the mission Isaiah 1:17 collection items the church has bee receiving throughout the month. The kids chose to paint summer and beach scenes all over the box to bring a smile to other kids' faces. They talked about what the verse meant as well as Galation 6:9-10, "Let us no grow tired of doing good..." An great opportunity to do good to all people.
In the worship service the kids enjoyed a short sermon from Pastor Nick with the item in the surprise blessing box....a roll of painter's tape! Nick asked the purpose of the tape was usually to keep bad marks or messes on stuff. He told how the Holy Spirit protects us from bad stuff and marks and we should listen to the spirit.
The offertory by Brooke on piano and Russell on guitar was so pretty: "This is My Father's World". A special music solo was presented by Richard Russell - "Home Where I Belong".
The sermon began with Pastor Nick telling of the need to clean out the frig at the breakroom at work. Doesnt take long for it to get yucky. He says a spiritual cleanout is also necessary! Remove the stuff that crowds in us like those leftovers: incompleted Bible studies, soiled thoughts and delayed prayer thoughts. We do things that are self-serving. We fail to give God quality time. We give spiritual leftovers! Do you spend time with God before life happenings? Before self and family? Do you give of your best - not just the leftovers? Get rid of those expired items in your frig....things that God forgave you for, but they are lingering in you. Confess those sins that are festering and collecting mold. Let the old go! Clean out the sould and refresh and live anew!

Offertory today was so pretty! " I Believe in a Hill Called Mount Calvary".
Sermon from the Scripture text of Genesis 11:1-9. After Chapter 10 of Genesis where is tells of the Geneology of Noah, Chapter 11 tells of the city and their building of the Tower of Babel (named after the city that built it.) Using bricks and not stone, the intent was to build high to the sky to reach Heaven. Some believed it was like steps of a pyramid trying to reach God. God did not like it though. The city wanted to be known for the tower. They wanted all to gather to their city, disobeying God's instruction....to spread to all the lands. So God stopped the building of the tower and scattered all the people to different land with different languages to spread the word of God. Do NOT try to drawn people to ones' self, but rather spread to all the lands the Word of God.
