Crosswood United Methodist Church was formed in October 2006 when three local congregations merged together. In April 2009 we opened our 400-seat multipurpose worship facility on Richland Road in southeast Marion. At Crosswood Church we present relevant Biblical teaching and preaching and passionate worship. We provide safe, fun, and dynamic children's ministries and offer countless opportunities

for adults to grow in faith and serve the Lord. We provide a place where you can explore God, Jesus, the Bible, and faith in an atmosphere of acceptance, hospitality, encouragement, and community. Our Christian Preschool has been in operation for more than 50 years and every year we graduate 65 young children from our preschool program. If you are seeking a local Christian preschool for your child, Crosswood Christian Preschool is an awesome faith-based option here in the Marion community! Crosswood Church is a great place to be. You are warmly welcomed to come check us out sometime! Joshua Freshour

This Sunday we take a look at Acts 17 and Paul's sermon on Mars Hill in Athens. When talking with the Greek philosophers he refers to an altar that is dedicated to "The Unknown God". There is nothing wrong with staying so humble as to recognize that we don't know everything. Whatever we might know about anything is probably only scratching the surface. So it good not to make an absolute out of anything or make concrete judgements based on first appearances.

On the other hand, if we are too ambigous to make any real clear statements, then we affect nothing. While blanket statements do their best so as to not leave anyone out, they also make false inclusions. Admitting that we don't know everything should cause us to hunger to know more but when the admission to not knowing leads to apathy. Naming something based on the information one has might lead to having egg on your face but it also leads to growth. Making a decision even it is a wrong one at least gets you off of the couch.

Take a stand. Be bold enough claim whatever it is you believe. Things we label unknown have a tendency of staying that way. We stop messing with them, we forget about them, they have no form or identity. God is not satisified with us leaving God alone. The truth is, the more we explore God, the world around us, and the people within it, the better we understand who we are and our role in the story of our lives.

This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. Just so you know, whenever you love boldly, whenever you open your circle wider to include more, whenever you practice peace over violence and forgiveness over vengeance, whenever you welcome people and accept people that most of the world does not, whenever you see anyone more than what they are worth in dollar signs, whenever you practice empathy and care, whenever you give of yourself, there will always be those who bully, who will throw stones your way and call you names. They will say you are radical. They might even say you are drunk on new wine. If that be the case, drink up I say, drink up. If lovin is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Living as Easter people....living as people of the Resurrection has less to do with what you believe and more on how you live and treat one another. When we judge or finger point or exclude we become destroyers of life. When we treat people as less them or we hold grudges, when become destroyers of life. When we shame or degrade or poke fun at others we live not as people of Jesus. Grace is the ultimate giver and restorer of life. Grace says, I don't care who you are or where you come from or what you believe, you matter, your life matters....not just the biological life, but all that make you who you are...your life, your story matters. Grace is the gift that allows for this to be. Grace brings life to the dead and a voice to the silenced. Grace is resurrection, grace is new life, grace is life everlasting. Death can't hold back grace, and Christ was love and grace made in the flesh. See less
