As we congratulate Becky Woodman for her many years of service and her retirement from our custodian position, it also means that we need to hire a replacement. Bethany Church and School will be hiring a part-time custodian, minimum of 20 hours per week. The hours are from 3:30 – 7:30 pm, and those hours are flexible. The primary responsibility of the position is cleaning classrooms. The starting wage is $15.00 per hour. Applications can be requested or picked up from the church office ([email protected]). Completed applications are due back to the church office by noon on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Searching for the biblical answer to pain? In Part 1 of our new series, we dive into how hardships create character and why God allows trials to make us stronger.
If you’re going through a season of suffering, know that it isn't wasted. The Bible tells us that "suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope" (Romans 5:3-4).

In this series, we’ll explore:
Why God allows pain in our lives.
How to find peace in the storm.
How to find meaning in the difficult moments.

Registration for the WELS International Youth Rally will begin in early March. Bethany would like to get a final count on how many teens will be attending the rally.
The rally will be held at Bowling Green State University in Ohio from July 14-17. The cost of the rally is $450. Our district will provide coach buses to transport the teens. The cost of transportation is $175. The total price for the rally and transportation comes to $625 per teen. If your child has helped with any of Bethany’s fundraisers, they will be reimbursed according to which fundraisers they helped with, and the amounts raised.
Our youth group leaders will start the registration process. They will then send each family a link to complete the registration for their child.
If you have any questions about the rally, please contact Katie Muchka.
We are asking ALL YG members to complete the form below by Monday, February 23rd.

It has come to our attention that many members received, what appeared to be, an email from Pastor Melso. After being alerted by fellow members, we are certain it is NOT from Pastor Melso and is some sort of attempt to scam those who received it.

We are currently working to resolve the situation. Living in a sinful world, we can expect the church, our pastors, our teachers, and even our members to be vulnerable to situations such as this. We are so blessed to have the people and tools to support each other and do our best to keep our members digitally safe.

An email that would come from Pastor Melso would have the following address: [email protected]
To ensure your digital safety when unsure about an email that has been received, double-check the sender's address for familiarity. Scammers can cleverly make the subject and body of an email appear to be a legitimate company or cause, BUT they CANNOT replicate an email address from that source.

Prayers and praises,
Bethany Lutheran Church and School

Youth Group Thanksgiving Pie Fund Raiser
In July 2026, many of our high school students plan to attend the WELS International Youth Rally at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. During the rally, teens attend worship services, workshops, and have opportunities to participate in many other activities with other WELS Lutherans from around the country. The cost to attend the rally is around $700 for each student. To help offset the cost of the rally, Bethany’s teens plan on organizing several fundraisers.
The first fundraiser for the rally is Thanksgiving pies. The teens plan on making homemade pumpkin and apple pies, baked fresh on Monday evening, November 24th. The suggested minimum donation price for each pie is $15.00. The pies can be picked up in the school office on Tuesday, November 25th from 7:30am-3:00pm and Wednesday, November 26th from 7:30am-12:00pm.

Print copies of the order form are available on the back ledge in church.

On August 1, 2025, 26-year-old Malachi Plocher was tragically electrocuted while working alongside his father and brother on a job site. His father heroically performed CPR and was able to revive him, but the damage done to Malachi's brain was too severe. He was airlifted to Columbia-St. Mary's Hospital, where he was placed on life support. On Monday night, the Lord in his infinite love and wisdom took Malachi to be home with him in heaven.
If you would like to support the Plocher family in their time of need, you may contribute to the GoFundMe fundraiser using this link: https://gofund.me/3c7a9a81
You can also send monetary donations to Martin Plocher, 5102 Elmer Lane, Manitowoc WI 54220. A third option is to bring donations or gift cards to the church office. If writing a check, please make it payable to Martin Plocher. A fourth option is to send funds to on PayPal. Funds will go directly to medical bills, flight transport, and living expenses for Malachi’s fiancée Alexis and their 2-month-old baby girl, Lainey.
Some have been asking about providing meals to the family. The "meal train" is being discussed and may be set up at a future date. At that time, more information will be shared through email or our church bulletins.
Thank you in advance for your support and prayers for the Plochers.
