Located on the North Shore of Long Island, the Church of Our Saviour Lutheran (COSL) is a warmhearted, active, multi-generational church. We are a church of love for and service to others, following in Jesus footsteps. Whether you’re a life-long Christian or skeptical but curious, ours is a church where you can join others to ask life’s big questions, grow closer to God and serve and love others j

ust as Jesus did. Every Sunday, you can expect to hear beautiful music, be inspired by a thought-provoking sermon and catch up with old friends and make new ones at our lively (and delicious!) coffee hour. COSL is a church that loves children, who can be heard laughing, playing and learning together each week in our nursery and Sunday School. You’ll have opportunities to help those in need, both locally and abroad, no matter how much time or money you have. And you’ll leave feeling more peaceful and energized as you head into your week. We hope you'll join us for worship on Sundays at 10am!

Tomorrow's gospel story is the "Road to Emmaus."

Two disciples are walking back to Emmaus from Jerusalem. Let's just say the events after Jesus' entry into Jerusalem didn't go as they had hoped. A stranger meets them on the road - and that doesn't end as they expected!

When have you been disappointed and lost hope? Join us for worship tomorrow morning at 10 AM as we explore this great story in depth.

We continue to travel the Great Three Days, after a beautiful service of Holy Communion on Maundy Thursday and Service of Tenebrae (shadows) on Good Friday.

We sit in the liminal space today - the "in between" - as we anticipate Jesus' resurrection.

Come be a part of the joy tomorrow, EASTER SUNDAY at 10 am at Church of Our Saviour! We hope you can join us to hear about Easter among us – to wave ribbon wands – to join in the great Easter hymns – to shout together “Christ is risen! He is risen indeed, alleluia!”

We’ve not said or sung that word “alleluia” since Transfiguration Sunday back in mid-February. This Sunday we break it open again, once more shouting the good news of Christ’s resurrection, the surest sign that love wins. You are invited to bring a bell you might have in your home, to ring each time we sing “alleluia!” This is an ancient tradition – one that brings much joy. We’ll have some small bells for the kids too! Hope to see you there!

Join us tomorrow morning for Palm Sunday worship!

We begin at 9:40 AM across the street at Manhasset United Church of Christ for the Liturgy of Palms - with donkey! Then we will return to COSL for worship with the reading of the Passion of Jesus Christ, beginning the final leg of our Lenten journey as we enter Holy Week.

Holy Week worship continues on Maundy Thursday, April 2nd at 7 PM with Holy Communion and Handwashing - reminders of Christ's love for and service to us. We also gather on Good Friday, April 3rd at 7 PM for the service of Tenebrae - a Service of Shadows - as we meditate on Christ's Passion in Scripture, song, and prayer.

All are welcome in all the spaces and at all the times we gather. Blessings to you this Holy Week!

Jesus returns to Judea - at great personal risk - because his friend Lazarus is sick. But Lazarus dies before Jesus arrives. What are the implications around life and death in this story, and in the "Dry Bones" story from Ezekiel in the Old Testament? Join us for worship tomorrow morning at 10 AM, with Bible study in the parlor at 9 AM.

All are welcome in all the ways and spaces we gather at Church of Our Saviour!

Despite a surprise snowstorm yesterday morning, our youth performed the Christmas pageant, 4th grader Henry received his first bible, and we decorated the sanctuary for Christmas.

Even with snow swirling outside, we had an hour of beautiful worship, preparing our hearts for Christmas.

The joy and cheer of the holiday season can be uplifting for many, but it can also be an especially difficult time for those who are feeling sad, lonely, or grieving a loss.

On Thursday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m., Church of Our Saviour Lutheran Manhasset will hold a “Longest Night/Blue Christmas” service. This gentle, reflective service is designed to create space for people to gather, silently name the pain and challenges they are carrying, and be reminded that God is present even in the midst of sorrow.

The hour-long evening service will include Bible readings that speak of comfort and hope in hard times, periods of quiet prayer and contemplation, and beautiful music reflecting on themes of lament, healing, and hope. Whether or not someone is a Christian or even believes in God, all members of the community are invited to attend.

A message from Pastor Mary:

Dear COSL family & friends,

In recent years, the days after Thanksgiving have taken on new monikers: "Black Friday", "Small Business Saturday", and "Cyber Monday." These are of course all related to consumer sales.

The newest one, however, is one we enthusiastically embrace: "Giving Tuesday."

Today is a day when people are encouraged to consider how they are spending during the holiday season, and make a donation of some kind to a cause of their choice. We want to extend that opportunity. You can follow this link to our donation page:

https://secure.myvanco.com/YQ6Y/home

Once there, click the "donate now" button in the left-hand corner box, and you'll be able to give online. You can also access this via the "Give" tab at the upper right of the home page of our website.

Thank you for your ongoing and faithful giving for the sake of the world, to the glory of God.

In Christ's peace,

Pastor Mary Shaima
