Happy Pentecost Sunday!

Today, 50 days after Easter, the Church celebrates Pentecost, the conclusion of the Easter season and the birthday of the Church!

From today's reflection in Magnificat, by Servant of God Luis Martinez: "The Holy Spirit is called the Paraclete, the Consoler, because he gives souls in exile a happiness that is not incompatible with grief, but rather supposes it. Therefore, in the Mass of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit is called 'Consolator optime--Best Consoler.'...

"And if the Holy Spirit is the Consoler, it is because he is infinite Love. Even in human life, if we consider attentively, we shall understand that the only thing that can console us is love. Knowledge is precious, but it does not console. Art delights us, but its object is not to console; the only thing that consoles is love. When our heart is torn to pieces, when great bitterness fills our souls, nothing but a divine reality can assuage our pain--love: love that knows how to bind divinely both pain and grief. Love alone possesses the heavenly secret of drawing forth happiness from profound sorrow and pain."

May the Holy Spirit, the Consoler, fill our hearts today with His gift of love, and may this love spread through the whole Church and the whole world! Come, Holy Spirit!

We look forward to walking with them as they grow in their Catholic faith!

Celebrating our Parish’s Feast Day today!!

The Second Sunday of Easter is Divine Mercy Sunday!

This feast was instituted at the request of Our Lord, who revealed to St. Faustina Kowalska that He desired a day that honors His great mercy in a special way. In her Diary, St. Faustina records these words of Jesus during one of His visits to her: "My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and a shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day are opened all the divine floodgates through which graces flow. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet." Divine Mercy Sunday was formally instituted by Pope St. John Paul II in the year 2000.

Let us give thanks today for Jesus' gift of mercy. May it be our refuge and our hope in the midst of a sinful and broken world, and may we always trust in the Lord's eagerness to offer us His mercy when we fail in our path of devotion and discipleship.

Today is a parish feast day; we pray for Divine Mercy Parish! O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us, I trust in You!

Don't forget to set clocks ahead one hour at bedtime tonight!

St. Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 9:24 to "run so as to win," but we don't think he had "running because you're late for Sunday Mass on Spring Daylight Savings Sunday" in mind... 😁

Daylight Savings begins tonight at 2:00 am, so don't forget to spring your clocks FORWARD one hour before you go to bed tonight!
