Most of us work a little harder when the boss is walking by, or straighten up the house right before the guests arrive. We’re great at playing the part when eyes are on us. But the real test of our faith happens in the "absence", when no one from church is watching and it’s just us and the Holy Spirit.
Paul challenges us in Philippians 2:12 to work out our salvation with fear and trembling, even more so when we’re alone. True obedience is lived out in the private moments of our Tuesday afternoons, not just the public spaces of our Sunday mornings.
