1st G Church Our Vision is “To GROW People in Christ that will GROW People for Christ”. The church has remained a stable witness for Christ since.

First Gethsemane Baptist Church was organized in 1910 as a result of a revival effort of a group of believers desiring a greater Christian witness in an area of Louisville, KY known at the time as “The Bottoms”. Originally located on Floyd Street, the church erected a new building and relocated to Algonquin Parkway in 1972.

September is going to be one to remember at First Gethsemane Church.

This month, we are making room for worship, fellowship, growth, celebration, and community. From Senior Day, to Homecoming Weekend, to Christian Education & Discipleship Week, there is something happening for every generation.

We are honoring those who paved the way.
We are coming home and reconnecting.
We are growing deeper in the Word.
We are gathering for powerful worship.
And we are continuing to live out what it means to be Better Together.
