New Canaan Baptist Church

Everyone is welcome to join us for worship services, Bible Study, and Sunday School. John Quarels in 1979 with only 8 members and initially located at 1064 S. 28th St. In February of 1995 the church moved to 2511 Cedar St. God continued to add to the church. The mortgage was paid off at this location after a short period of time. On Sunday, April 1, 1999 God blessed the congregation to move to our

present facility. God saw fit to call Pastor Quarels home to rest from his labor in February of 2000. That same year, Rev. Walter Russell was installed as Pastor. He served for a short period of time. Thurmond Coleman became interim Pastor and served form 2003 to 2004. The church mortgage was able to be paid off under his pastorate. In Oct 2004, Rev. Lester Belmar, Sr. was called to Pastor New Canaan. Under his leadership and guidance, God has continued to bless our church. Under his pastorate a new sound system, copier and 2nd air conditioner was purchased. A sound room with a window for sanctuary viewing was constructed. The parking lot was paved and we were blessed to purchase the house/lot next door which is currently being used as an Annex building. Ministries have been developed and renewed to include Men's Ministry, Women's Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, Outreach Ministry and a Praise Team and Mime Ministry was formed. A Clothes Closet was also started. Bible Study and Sunday School continue to prosper as well. Four Associate Ministers and and three Protem Deacons have been sent by God to assist with church ministries and the Pastor. Souls are being saved regularly and the church is growing Spiritually.
