This past Saturday, we had the joy of celebrating our Children and Youth Department in a meaningful way as they prepare for the upcoming school year! Our Children’s Ministry enjoyed a special visit from the local fire department, where they learned important fire‑safety practices and even had the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat of the firetruck and operate the water hose. The children were thrilled and deeply appreciated the time and care shown by our firefighters.

Our young men embarked on their first—though certainly not their last—fishing outing. They were excited to fellowship with one another while exploring a new skill, and the experience marked the beginning of stronger bonds and lasting relationships.

Meanwhile, our young ladies gathered for an intimate tea party. During this time, they learned table etiquette, practiced carrying themselves with confidence and grace, and created vision boards that reflected their hopes and goals. The setting allowed them to connect more deeply and encourage one another.

Each of these activities served as a heartfelt reminder to the children and youth of West End Baptist Church that they are loved, supported, and believed in. We are incredibly proud of the remarkable individuals they are becoming in Christ!😊

A Tribute to Dr. Lincoln Bingham
From Paul Brewer Jr.
Former Youth Member, West End Baptist Church, Louisville, Kentucky

There are certain people whom God places in our lives whose influence remains with us long after the moments have passed. Dr. Lincoln Bingham was one of those people.
As a teenager attending West End Baptist Church in 1984, I was blessed to be part of a church family that was shaped by Dr. Bingham's leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the Gospel. He was a man of dignity and respect who treated everyone with kindness. Whether speaking to a child, a teenager, or an elder, he made each person feel seen and valued.
One of his greatest gifts was his ability to make God's Word understandable for every generation. He preached and taught with clarity, helping people not only hear the Scriptures but also apply them to their daily lives. His ministry crossed generational lines and impacted countless lives.
Dr. Bingham was also a mentor of men. Through his example, he taught what it meant to walk faithfully with God, to lead with integrity, and to serve others with humility. His influence reached far beyond the pulpit and into the hearts of those he shepherded.
As I reflect on those years, I am also grateful for the continued legacy of West End Baptist Church under the leadership of its current pastor, Rev. Dr. Dartanya G. Hill Sr.. During a significant time in my life, Pastor Hill and his family extended kindness and support to me. After my family had moved, he welcomed me into his home and allowed me to stay with his family. I will never forget his generosity in allowing me to use his white Pontiac Grand Am for my prom. That act of trust and kindness meant more than words can express and remains a cherished memory to this day.
The compassion shown by Pastor Hill reflects the same spirit of love, mentorship, and community that has long been a hallmark of West End Baptist Church. It is a testament to the enduring legacy of leaders who not only preach the Gospel but also live it through their actions.
Today, while we mourn the passing of Dr. Bingham, we also celebrate his life and legacy. We thank God for a pastor who faithfully proclaimed the Word, mentored generations, and left an indelible mark on the Kingdom of God. His labor on earth is complete, and we rejoice in knowing that he now rests in the presence of the Lord he served so faithfully.
Thank you, Dr. Bingham, for your example, your leadership, your wisdom, and your faithfulness.
Your legacy continues through the lives you touched, the men and women you mentored, and the church you helped build.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7
