I have a few housekeeping items. Please if you bring in a decoration to the cemetery, clean it off before the deadline, but at least clean off and dispose of it at your own expense, it is unfair to any cemetery to be caused the need to remove it. This is why many cemeteries do not permit most decorations, I can relate to that. I have gathered 9 large garbage bags of decorations left on graves and still have 6 sections to go. The chain at the entrance. That chain is to prevent or slow the illegal parking in the cemetery, we request that it be put up at departure to assist us. I have been up there working the past couple weeks, I put the chain across when I am thee, twice I've seen people drive through, when I leave the chain is down. There is a purpose for it, please follow it. Dogs, keep them leashed, clean up their waste, I have informed one person 3 times to leash his dogs, he refuses, two more gentleman do this, one has been informed. We do have the power to enforce this legally, pleas to not test that. I encourage the dog walking, it provides extra security! BUT it is still the city limits and the city has a leash law. None of these items are to discourage you, respect the cemetery, we only have volunteers to keep it as nice as we can, we need your help. THANKS!

Flag update. Section I and Soldiers Circle are completed. Sections D, E, F, are spoken for and will be completed as a project of the Civil Air Patrol. Just 3 sections are yet to be completed, A, B and C.
Thank you John for your assist, and Thank you Brian Andrews for the blessing of the CAP. Great headway. A special thanks to LONG time volunteer Wayne Allison, your labor of love is well appreciated! That notion comes from my heart and back!

Hello Highland warriors. I checked the cemetery Saturday in the morning. One area had snow on a steep slope where it had drifted. This is mostly melted and safe to pass through. The chain is unlocked and perhaps for this winter season.
We will soon (no date set) have a reorganizational meeting and we need people to attend. We have been with out a President with the resignation of Ricki several months ago.
The GREAT volunteer, Wayne Allison that replaced the Veteran flags for MANY Years has stepped aside, we need a new volunteer or several that would assist in this task. Close to 700 flags all need replaced before Memorial Day. I cannot thank Wayne enough for completing this task all these years.
Civic Groups, Athletic groups military groups, Employee groups, High School Seniors, Scouts are urged to volunteer. So many of the groups mentioned have assisted in the past, but COVID changed all this and I wish to rebuild our community.
I do urge caution, if we even get a light snow two slopes and three turns become dangerous. Use caution.
Oh and last but not least, we welcome dog walkers, but please keep dogs leashed, under control, and clean up the doggy waste.

Due to the storm prediction, the chain is locked at the entrance. It will remain locked until the roads are safe for motor vehicles. The cemetery is CLOSED from dusk to dawn, it is not closed , the other hours, just to vehicles, it is a beautiful walk!

The chain is unlocked at the entrance now. Road is clear of ice. Grave digger moved equipment today and really made a mess of rutting the thawing grass area along the road in several locations. Monday we will have a private burial in the cemetery, at the present time I do not know what time!!
Today three families were walking dogs, all had their leases on, THANK YOU!!! We appreciate the activity and encourage it, but please leash and clean up after them. Remember to hook up the chain when you leave he cemetery, lt seems people do not realize this, if its down when you enter, the last person out has not hooked it. Even if someone is in the cemetery hook the chain when you leave, perhaps others will follow.

The chain at the entrance was locked yesterday prior to the storm. Road is a complete sheet of ice. Please remember, the cemetery is open to the public, dawn to dusk. The chain is to protect the cemetery from vehicles sliding off the road and the publics safety, it is not denying entry. You are welcome to walk in at your own risk!

The chain is up, but the lock has been removed until sometime on Friday before the next storm. Road has Ice in some places the turn by the shed is really bad, if you insist on driving in the cemetery, it is at your own risk.
