We are so saddened to hear about Pat’s passing.

Shortly after the monument’s unveiling, while on her way to give one of her engaging talks for tourists, Pat Costello posed beside Anna Harrington. With sadness, LexSeeHer has learned that long-serving community member Pat has died. Pat’s many contributions to Lexington fell right in line with the “Something Must Be Done” spirit.

In addition to her service as an elected Town Meeting Member, long-time volunteer with the League of Women Voters of Lexington and Lexington Historical Society, Pat also shared her deep knowledge of local history with LexSeeHer. In the early days, Pat participated in multiple focus groups, and later, she consulted on language about 18th-century religious practice as LexSeeHer prepared the installation at LexArt. Pat visited the proposed site, visited the artist’s studio, and always was willing to offer her reflections and constructive feedback. We will miss Pat.

In his I Believe column this week published in The Boston Pilot, Archbishop Henning shares how the Church begins the year by celebrating the feast of Mary, Mother of God, a model of trust, faith, and courage. Unlike fleeting resolutions, Mary’s resolute faith in God and unwavering love for her son remind us that true transformation comes not from self-help but from surrender to God’s grace. You are invited to read the column in the link below.

Saturday, December 28 is the day for St. Brigid's to change the Lex250 Countdown Calendar in front of Cary Hall.

Please join Fr. Joe and Fr. Hippolyte and fellow parishioners between 8:30 and 9:00 am so that we can change the calendar numbers and take a group picture that will be shared on the Lex250 social media pages. This is a great way to show that our parish is a part of the Lexington Community and to join the excitement of counting down the days to the 250th anniversary in April.

In his 'I Believe' column in this week's Boston Pilot, Archbishop Henning shares a memory of visiting a hospital two days before Christmas to see his then two-year-old nephew, who was being treated for Leukemia. From that moment of darkness emerged hope through a group of high school student with instruments who began to play Christmas carols. "In those few minutes, beauty eased the pain. In the florescent darkness, another light shone. The consoling, transforming, life-giving proclamation of Christmas arrived where it was needed most." In his weekly "I Believe" column published in The Boston Pilot, Archbishop Henning offers suggestions on how to deepen one's Advent journey while reflecting on the theme of "rejoice" throughout the history of the Church. "During the fierce persecutions of the early Christians, during years of war and famine, through great plagues and years of want and misery, through all these centuries on this Sunday in Advent, we have called out "rejoice!"
