Zenkaikon Day #2 - Today I’m wearing a Keith Haring Shirt and Jacket and carrying around our Kintsugi Heart which is also crafted in the style of Keith Haring. People are taking notice and although some seem to have difficulty placing the heart in the Anime and Cosplay “world” they also seem to be intrigued when I explain that a broken heart can be beautiful.

Two workshops so far:

1. DrawFree Live is an improved drawing show where the audience gives them nouns, adjectives, and verbs. They place those words into an unknown sentence, and then draw whatever scenario comes out of it in real time. It’s a humor and lighthearted workshop.

2. LGBTQIA representation in Anime (I’m in this one now). Facilitator discusses trans/gay characters and show clips of the show where the character is revealed or identified as trans/gay.

3. Yesterday I attended “So You Want To Start A Anime Club” which was lead by a middle school teacher who started and runs a anime club. I found that their are may crossovers between an anime club and a welcoming spiritual community.

In addition to these workshops I walked the lobbies where most of the people hangout in the dress. Talked to some but not as many as I would have liked.. walked the vendor hall and attend the opening ceremony.

So far this, for me, has been a community immersive experience for learning and presence.

Today’s my first time at an anime conference and what better place than here at home. Just left a super informative workshop titled: “So You Want to Start An Anime Club”. Excited about the possibilities of starting new anime communities and gatherings.

LiFT is growing in its programs and outreaches, and our main page will now serve as an information hub for announcements, events, and updates happening throughout the church.

🎶 Justice Choir – Lancaster 🎶

Lancaster’s Justice Choir, under the direction of Darla Bair, brings together singers rooted in compassion, nonviolence, and love for our whole community. We sing songs of justice and peace wherever they are needed, in parks, downtown, at community events, rallies, and beyond.

Rehearsals begin March 1 & March 15 at 2pm at LiFT UCC. All voices welcome. (Please Share Announcement)
