This month, we’re exploring how dementia affects not only those experiencing cognitive decline, but also their caregivers, friends, and families. With nearly 6.9 million adults over 65 living with dementia, many of us will know someone navigating this journey.

Our September Crown newsletter includes a personal perspective from one of our members who cared for her husband through dementia. She shares her experience, what she learned along the way, and recommendations for supporting both caregivers and loved ones.

On August 26, 1920, the 19th Amendment was certified, recognizing women’s right to vote after decades of organizing, protesting, and advocating for equality. But the work didn’t end there. Many women, particularly Black women and other women of color, continued facing barriers to voting and full participation in public life.

Today, Women’s Equality Day reminds us that equality is an ongoing commitment: creating opportunities for women to lead, serve, speak, and shape our communities.

At Church of the Apostles, we’re proud to be a female pastor-led congregation, surrounded by women who lead ministries, volunteer, serve behind the scenes, and help move our church forward every day. 💜
