Did you promise to pray for someone? Next Wednesday you will encounter God's love firsthand as you light a candle for them and set it before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Come for a moment or stay the hour if you wish. The doors of St. James will be wide open at Light for Love. Bring a friend for the kind of peace your soul craves in this hectic world.

Who will you light for love of on June 24? Experience beauty, silence, peace, and prayer in the midst of the radiant, candlelit church on each fourth Wednesday of the month, starting June 24 and throughout the summer (July 22, August 26, September 23).During each light for love event, the doors of S...

Today, June 13, we celebrate the feast of St. Anthony… the patron saint of “Where on earth did I put that?”
Poor St. Anthony—some days we give him quite a workout, don't we? 😉

Tomorrow, June 11, as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Catholics around the country are encouraged to join in celebrating the consecration:

O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus:
You know the longings of our hearts, and you desire that we enjoy friendship with you.
From your pierced side, you have poured out the wellspring of life, for which we thirst.
Your heart burns with a love for all people to return to a right relationship with you.

We celebrate the abundant gifts you have given this nation, founded on the self-evident truths that our Creator has endowed all people with the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

We make reparation for the offenses against you and against human dignity that have taken place in this nation.

May our hearts be united to yours, so that our families and communities enjoy peace and happiness; may broken relationships be reconciled, injustices repaired, and the wounds of our land be healed.

May your holy Catholic Church serve as a sign, pointing all people to your infinite love.

O Desire of Nations and Center of History, we ask you to bless these United States of America.

Who live and reign with God the Father in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us!

There’s an old joke in entertainment about a New York City pedestrian asking a stranger, “How does one get to Carnegie Hall?”

I can still remember the celebration of America's Bicentennial from when I was young. The US Mint made special coins (quarters, half dollars, and silver dollars)...and one of the network stations broadcast a series every night at 8:58pm called "200 years ago today".

I think that's what made me excited to offer these programs at the Lakewood Catholic Parishes in honor of America's 250th. Here's the complete details about the prayer service next week...

On Thursday, June 11, as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the US bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Lakewood Catholic Parishes will celebrate the Consecration with a prayer service that same day (Thurs), 7pm at St Clement. Following the prayer service, join us downstairs for refreshments including apple pie…because what’s more American than that? Hope to see you there…

The novena concludes with the Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11.

The novena concludes with the Consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11.

Join us in praying the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 3-11.

Each day reflects on the wisdom of saints and pontiffs on the Sacred Heart and offers opportunities for prayer and action, framed by Pope Francis’ encyclical Dilexit Nos (He Loved Us) and Pope Leo XIV’ s apostolic exhortation Dilexi Te (I Have Loved You).

The novena concludes with the consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 11, 2026.

Just a reminder that Stirring Up Hope is outside at St. James TODAY from 11am - 1pm to foster community and serve up some kindness! As you know, Stirring Up Hope is a collaborative soup initiative launched by the First Presbyterian Church (formerly Old Stone Church) and Edwins Restaurant.
