New Hope Lafayette

New Hope Lafayette Our kids. Our community. Our future. We are a community development organization that works in the Azalea Park neighborhood of the "Four Corners."

During the school year, we provide after school tutoring for the children in the neighborhood three days each week. During the summer, we partner with the city's Summer Youth Program to provide educational enrichment and to teach 8 character values that are essential for success in life. This fall, we intend to begin a sports program for the children in the neighborhood.

Grateful for the opportunity to share Understanding Adversity and Building Resilience with the amazing staff and volunteers at Crossroads Church this week!

Kris and John Newman had the privilege of presenting on behalf of the LA CARE Network, part of the Louisiana Department of Health. We also had the chance to play the brain game with everyone — participants got to see firsthand how relational supports and adversity impact brain development. It really brings the science to life.

Want to give a BIG thank you to the 705 Federal Credit Union.

Last week they hosted our students for a tour and taught them about banking basics — savings, checking, loans, and how credit unions work. Our kids had a blast learning.

Afterward, they surprised each student with summer supplies like books, crayons, and coloring books.

We’re so grateful for community partners like 705 Federal Credit Union who pour into our kids. Thank you! 💚

New Hope Club Program! 🙌
Our guest speaker at our most recent club program was Hailey Williams of Handled by Haii Salon. She shared her journey from Northside High to salon owner, gave students a real look at life as a cosmetologist, and led a fun hands-on activity.

We loved seeing 5th–12th graders from across Lafayette explore career paths, ask great questions, and dig into some good food after. Big thanks to Hailey and to all the students who came out — we’ll see you at next month’s meeting!

705 Federal Credit Union is partnering with New Hope Lafayette for a Summer Learning Drive to help kids stay engaged, confident, and prepared while school is out.

From May 1 through May 15, we will be collecting learning supplies for local students.

Items Needed
