Obituary for Juantia S. Hickey
Juanita S. Hickey 85 of Fountain City was born in Harriman. Went to Glory on March 19, 2025, peacefully at her daughter’s residence. An active and faithful member of Emerald Ave United Methodist Church. She was a member of The United Methodist Women. She was a selfless servant of the Lord. She attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing from 1957-1960. While working a full-time job earned a Bachelor’s Degree from ETSU. She worked as a nurse for St. Mary’s for 50 years, over her 50 years of Service to St. Mary’s as a nurse, she received many recognitions of excellence and had many accomplishments, but if you asked, her greatest accomplishment was her family. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother who gave selflessly not just to her family but to people whom she barely knew. She was a great nurse, a phenomenal woman who was loved by many. She was preceded in death by her Parents Newell “Duke” Schubert and Rose Schubert; Husband Richard L. Hickey, Son Joseph Hickey; Siblings, Bobby Schubert, Kenneth Schubert, Joyce Schubert Hatfield, Woodrow Schubert, Newell Edward Schubert, Jr. and wife Marie. She is survived by her daughter Susan Gray; grandchildren, Chris and Amanda Neubert, Sarah and Scott Eib, Rachel and Nick Hamilton; great grandchildren, Tristan Bryant, Jaiden Peterson, Carlee Neubert, Crista Hamilton, Layla Eib, Skyler and Destiny. Best and longest friend Carol “Nellie” Glenn. Special friends All the ladies of Emerald Avenue United Methodist Bible Study. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Rose Funeral & Cremation-Broadway. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Pastor Bruce Galyon and Rev. Bob Bean officiating. Family and friends will gather at 12:45 pm Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Greenwood Cemetery for a 1:00 pm graveside service. Online condolences may be extended at
