Jessica McCroskey, a candidate for ordained ministry in the ELCA and seminarian at Luther Seminary, is our new Parish Ministry Associate. She works closely with the Pastor, staff, ministry teams, volunteers, and community partners to help deepen congregational enrichment and pastoral care, enhance worship planning and parish administration, and strengthen outreach ministry programs. Our congregation has been walking alongside Jessica for over two years now as she follows her call to ministry, but we are much more than fellow travelers, we are family. Jessica was baptized at Gloria Dei as a toddler and is a beloved member of our faith community.

Praying for those affected by this senseless act of violence.

Presiding Bishop Yehiel Curry has released a statement on the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego.

“As the ELCA, we must speak plainly: violence rooted in hatred is sin. We condemn Islamophobia and acknowledge its rise in recent years. Our church affirms that “anti-Muslim hatred is antithetical to our Christian faith” (A Declaration of the ELCA to the Muslim Community), for we are called to love our neighbor in ways that cast out fear (1 John 4:18).”
