In one week, CHPC hosts the youth choir from Lakewood Church in Jacksonville, Florida. For over 40 years, it has been a rite of passage for their youth to be a part of this annual trip, and they have traveled to 49 of the 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, and The Bahamas. This year, the Lakewood youth choir will be coming through our area as they travel the southeast performing for different audiences, sharing the word of God and having some fun along the way! Please join us in the Sanctuary at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 8 to support them as they share their choir performance with us.

For the last four weeks, CHPC has looked to passages from the Sermon on the Mount to remind ourselves of the values embodied in this church family. CHPC is a community that is Compassionate, Charitable, Uplifting, and Accepting. That last word is our focus this week as our pastor steps into the pulpit one more time to share the Good News of God's Love seen in the Body of Christ. It is a gift of grace bestowed upon every beloved child of God regardless of any worldly distinctions. What might the "Golden Rule" have to teach us about being accepting of others? How might Paul's letter to the Galatians change our world view about what it means to be uplifting, charitable, and compassionate? All are welcome to worship with us this Trinity Sunday at 10:00 am and to enjoy a congregational lunch after worship.

We had the most wonderful Youth Sunday service this past weekend! Thank you to this amazing group of young people who demonstrated with their words and actions how "uplifting" this church family can be.

Did you take any additional photos from Youth Sunday? If so, post them to the comments below and we can then add them to the album.

This coming Sunday is Youth Sunday at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church! We are so grateful to this great group of young people for being willing to lead us in worship on this Spirit-filled Sunday. They have worked hard over the past few weeks to prepare a Pentecost service that speaks to the "Uplifting" nature of this church family. Come support all of our youth on this special Sunday and hear from our high school seniors how they have felt uplifted by this family of faith. We are so proud of this wonderful group!

Last week, CHPC began celebrating all of our graduates with a special end of the year program and preschool graduation for the day school. The theme "under the sea" and the kiddos sang wonderful songs that showed off some of the impressive things they learned throughout the school year. This church family continues to be so proud of this most meaningful ministry! Our day school director, Lisa Robinette, and her staff work day in and day out to provide a safe and loving environment for around 75 children in our community. As important as high quality child care is for every community, we appreciate the many ways this congregation supports this missional effort by: serving on the day school board, running sound for special events, helping care for our facilities that the children and staff use each day, volunteering in the kitchen, or taking the time to read to the children. Please continue to pray for all these children, their families, the CHPDS staff, and all those who work hard to ensure every beloved child knows God loves them.

All are welcome to participate in another "A Good Death" workshop from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 16 at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. This "Resurrection Edition" includes multiple speakers from various disciplines covering topics of theology, funerals, grief, hospice care, medical directives, estate planning, and more. The greatest goal of the day is to demystify the subject of death in a way that allows us to approach it with grace and love instead of fear. Family and friends are most welcome. Please spread the word and RSPV by contacting the church office.

We are delighted to welcome our friend the Rev. Dr. Meredith Loftis, Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, back into the pulpit this Sunday! Meredith's family has been a part of CHPC for many years and we are delighted to welcome one of our own back home to kick off this new sermon series about four key values of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church: Compassionate, Charitable, Uplifting, and Accepting. Please be sure to tell her grandmother, Mary Ann Smith, how glad we are that Meredith could join us!

One of the most important parts of worship at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is music. It raises our spirits, reminds us that we are not alone, and reorients our view toward the One who keeps making the most joyful noise in our lives. Are you ready to help others share this gift as we seek to glorify God? CHPC is looking for a Praise Band Leader to enhance our blended worship service. Interested individuals should apply via the job link on our website. https://chpres.org/contact/job-opportunities
