A moment worth celebrating. ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ””

Recently, Michael Byrd rang the bell, marking the end of a difficult chapter in his cancer journey.

A veteran, skilled carpenter, and longtime Outer Banks resident, Byrdโ€™s life changed in an instant when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. Treatment brought hope, but it also brought challenges. As the physical toll of cancer made it impossible for him to continue working, the financial burden quickly became overwhelming.

Through ICOโ€™s Cancer Outreach Program, Byrd received assistance with transportation costs to treatment, help with essential living expenses, and connections to additional community resources throughout his cancer journey.

Today, this bell represents more than the end of treatment. It represents strength. It represents hope. It represents what can happen when a community comes together to support one another through lifeโ€™s toughest battles.

While Byrd celebrates this milestone, many others in our community are still fighting their own cancer journey.

Your support helps provide practical assistance to local cancer patients facing transportation costs, housing expenses, and other critical needs while undergoing treatment.

A gift to ICOโ€™s Cancer Outreach Program stays right here in our community and helps ensure no one has to face cancer alone.

This Memorial Day, Interfaith Community Outreach pauses to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is the reason we gather, serve, and live in freedom. Today, we remember them and the families who carry their absence every day.

We are grateful for their service and their legacy.

And thatโ€™s what this day was all about, supporting veterans when they need it most. Through ICOโ€™s Veterans Outreach Program, we provide emergency assistance, mental health counseling support, and community resource referrals.

Grateful for everyone who showed up, gave back, and made the day so special ๐Ÿ’™

Interfaith Community Outreach proudly presents the 2026 Veterans Tribute Pickleball Social in honor of the extraordinary legacy of General Paul X. Kelley, USMC (Ret.), a decorated Marine, respected public servant, and true American patriot. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

As the 28th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, Member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Chairman of the American Battle Monuments Commission, General Kelley led with courage, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our nation. His leadership helped shape the U.S. Central Command and brought the National World War II Memorial to life.

General Kelley dedicated his life to serving his country and standing by his fellow service members. We honor his enduring legacy by continuing that commitment, ensuring veterans in our community receive the care, dignity, and support they have earned. Through the generous support of his daughter, Chris Kelley Cimko, this special event helps make that impact possible by directly supporting local veterans.

We are honored to carry forward his legacy of service while supporting those who have served our nation with courage and sacrifice. ๐Ÿ’™
