Rise recap 🤍 Last night we had such a good night of fellowship with you guys! 👏 The Lord showed up like He always does and we are so grateful that we got to be with you all! If you weren’t at Rise last night we definitely missed you; we had such a fun night together! 😁 We had food, fun games, worship, and a word from Pastor Nick! He spoke on Luke 15, which is often titled as “the prodigal son”, but Nick said he often calls it “the loving Father,” which is so fitting! If you read this passage it’s clear how much the father loves his son, but with an eternal perspective, we can see how the father is God and we are the son. Nick spoke about how God receives us as we are and how He shows us our true identity, when we have a relationship with Him. The world will try to convince us that we’re entitled to everything, that our identity is found in earthly things, and that we have to prove ourselves. Last night, Pastor Nick reminded us that we don’t have to prove anything to the world. He also taught us about the culture during this Bible story’s time, which is another important part of it. The father running to his son was very shameful and not common for many reasons. This is a direct reflection of Jesus and how He loves us. The father was taking on the shame, mockery, and humiliation so that his son could come home. “The father restores the son’s identity,” and isn’t that exactly what Jesus does for us? 🥹 He paid the ultimate price so that we could be made whole and loved perfectly by Him. ✝️ We have to be careful not to measure or compare the Father’s (God’s) love to an earthly father. People will let us down, but God never will! If you guys have questions about this topic or in general please reach out to a leader; we’re here for you guys! 🫶 We can’t wait to see you all on Sunday!! LETS RISE UP AND BE THE CHURCH! Love y’all!
