The Episcopal Church has a long history of expanding inclusion and affirming the dignity of all people. Rooted in scripture, tradition, and reason, Episcopalians seek to follow Jesus by loving our neighbors and respecting the dignity of every human being.
In 2003, The Episcopal Church consecrated Gene Robinson, the first openly gay bishop in the Anglican Communion. Since then, the Church has continued to affirm LGBTQ+ people through marriage equality, ordination, and leadership opportunities throughout the Church.
At St. John’s Episcopal Church, we celebrate this ongoing journey toward justice, compassion, and belonging.
