Our Summer Fellows program is a 10-week experience for young adults (19–25) built around three things that actually matter:

Real community — living and doing life alongside people who take faith seriously
Spiritual formation — slowing down to pay attention to God
Vocational discernment — figuring out not just what you'll do, but who you're becoming

You’re invited to join us at Interyear at 6:30pm on Shrove Tuesday, February 17, for a pancake dinner as we prepare to enter the season of Lent together.

Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, a 40-day season in the Church calendar focused on repentance, prayer, and returning our hearts to Christ. The word “shrove” comes from an old English word meaning “to confess.” Historically, Christians would examine their lives, confess their sins, and prepare spiritually for Lent. The feasting (especially pancakes!) grew out of using up rich ingredients like eggs, milk, and butter before beginning a simpler Lenten fast.

So we’ll gather, feast, laugh, and give thanks before entering a season of deeper reflection and renewed devotion to Christ. We’ll have pancakes, bacon, and fresh fruit, shared around the table in the spirit of Christian community.

Whether Lent is a long-standing practice for you or something you’re just beginning to explore, we’d love to mark the season with you and share some resources, too.

Next Monday, 2/16, come join us in the Sub at Milligan for a free pizza lunch and learn about fellowship opportunities with Interyear. We'll help you discern your next most faithful step (and feed you some good pizza)! You can spend the summer with us and work for a local church or nonprofit, or spend the full year with us while serving in the community, gaining valuable ministry experience.

At Interyear, we create and invest so much into young adults so they can participate in an intentional Christian community, invest in meaningful work, have dedicated time for God, and find a faithful next step.
