Okoa Refuge Become a part of a movement that is transforming communities and stabilizing families through love.

Okoa Refuge is a 501(C)(3) formed in 2008 that rescues Abandoned and Orphaned Children in Uganda Okoa, through holistic care and creating family. Okoa provides the children the opportunities to be a kid, normalcy and a chance to break the cycle of poverty.

Okoa is a Swahili word that means to save, rescue, or redeem. We believe God desires to save, rescue, and redeem all people — and that He calls us to be part of that work.

Through every child protected, every survivor defended, every family strengthened, and every life reached with the Gospel, we see redemption unfolding day by day.

“Okoa” is more than a name. It is the mission God has placed before us.

🚨 NOT ON OUR WATCH. 🚨
A 17-year-old girl was being trafficked. What followed was hours of coordination, intelligence gathering, long drives, collaboration with local authorities, and a relentless pursuit of justice.

This reel shows only a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes. Every rescue, every arrest, and every child brought to safety requires a team willing to go wherever necessary and do whatever it takes to protect the vulnerable.

Through Okoa’s Community Empowerment program, we walk alongside vulnerable families—helping them build sustainable futures through education, vocational training, discipleship, and counseling.

Whether through caring for vulnerable children, pursuing justice for survivors, strengthening families, supporting churches, or meeting medical needs, we want every person we encounter to know they are seen, valued, and deeply loved by God.

Every child deserves more than survival. They deserve safety, stability, and the chance to be fully known and loved. From the moment a child is rescued to the journey of finding permanent family care, we are committed to walking with them every step of the way.

This is why we do what we do. Until every child has a safe place to call home.
