WAYPOINT PRINCIPLE: MEET THEM IN THE DARK
People don’t always need you to tell them how to find the light. Sometimes they need you to be willing to walk into the darkness with them.
Jesus didn’t wait for broken people to get their lives together before He met them. He went to the hurting, the rejected, the sick, the grieving, and the lost.
He didn’t avoid their suffering. He entered into it.
As followers of Jesus, we’re not called to stand at a distance and criticize people for being in the dark. We’re called to love them where they are, walk alongside them in their pain, and point them toward the One who can redeem their lives.
Sometimes that means listening instead of lecturing. Sitting beside someone instead of offering another opinion. Offering practical help instead of empty promises. Showing compassion without compromising truth. Staying present when their pain makes others uncomfortable.
You don’t have to fix someone’s darkness to bring the love of Jesus into it.
Romans 12:15 tells us to “weep with those who weep.”
That means we don’t just celebrate with people when life is good. We stand beside them when life falls apart.
We meet them in addiction, grief, loneliness, failure, fear, and brokenness, not to leave them there, but to love them enough to walk with them toward Jesus.
The WayPoint Challenge
Who around you is suffering right now?
Who have you avoided because their pain is uncomfortable? Who needs someone to listen without judgment? Who needs to experience the love of Jesus through your presence?
Don’t just tell people that Jesus loves them.
Show them what His love looks like by meeting them in the dark.
Because sometimes the first step toward the light is having someone willing to walk beside you.
