Last Bell Ministries

Last Bell Ministries Last Bell loves and restores orphaned youth toward life and community. Our vision is to see the end of the generational orphanage cycle in Zhytomyr, Ukraine.

*Since the invasion, Last Bell has been evacuating our youth and families and meeting immediate needs in our city.*

Last Bell helps graduate orphans learn to thrive in Zhytomyr, Ukraine. We guide them to lives of hope and purpose while showing them Christ’s love. We begin by providing for basic needs. We engage them in a loving community, offer spiritual and lifestyle mentoring, and then provide

vocational development. Our desire is that our youth will stop the vicious orphanage cycle by having their own thriving families. We want them to inspire their culture by becoming people who invest in their own families and communities.

Our first mom's group in 2011... and a Stop the Cycle gathering with Director Marguerite in 2026!

In those early years, we encountered a dilemma: How could youth who’d been neglected and abused provide love and safety for their own children?

Stop the Cycle was our answer. At STC meetings, orphaned parents were protected from judgment and shame while they learned how to care well for their kids. As those first moms began to trust our staff, they shared their worries and needs.

Today, mentorship, parenting training, family camp, groceries, clothes, and legal and medical advocacy continue to help orphan moms and dads parent well and keep their families together.

One morning many years ago, a Last Bell founder woke up with a clear call from God: “You are responsible for the orphans at Orphanage #4.”

Another couple had full lives and two small children. Then God called them to be house parents for teenagers.

They all said “yes.”

Early ministry partners – that’s many of you! – also said “yes” to God. When He provided the perfect building to welcome orphaned youth, a donor stepped out in faith with a loan. Many of you gave. Many prayed faithfully. God provided through you!

Here's what we've seen over twenty years at Last Bell:

God loves orphaned youth and has a purpose for their lives.

God calls His people into that purpose.

And God provides.

Happy Anniversary to us! Twenty years ago today, on August 21, 2006, we officially became a nonprofit. For 20 years, Last Bell has been making safe places for orphaned youth.

In the fall of 2007, the Shelter opened its doors - our first safe place. Our staff continues welcoming orphaned youth today at the Shelter (now crisis housing), the Ranch, the Family Center AND the new Day Center!

And our staff continues introducing orphaned youth and families to their Creator, for "under His wings you will find refuge" (Psalm 91:4).

Thank you for caring about orphaned youth in Zhytomyr. Thank you for making safe places with us. We celebrate today because of YOU!

“Last Bell became the place where I found genuine support, stability, and confidence in myself. It was through them that I gained faith in my abilities and the desire to keep growing. They helped me not only with words but also through their actions: they paid for my education, gave me the opportunity to attend camps, and opened new opportunities for my personal development.

“But what I value most is their sincere hearts. They supported me when they could have simply walked past. I am deeply grateful to the Last Bell team for everything they have done for me, and I am especially thankful to God for bringing these people into my life. Their support has become a strong foundation on which I continue to build my life.”

The hike Sunday was a success! One young woman celebrated her birthday on hike day. She said that conquering a mountain peak had been her dream for a long time. She was so happy! She smiled all day, took lots of photos, and said it was the best birthday ever.

And today marked the end of camp for orphaned students. Thank you all for praying and giving!

Director Andriy writes, "Please pray as TODAY at 9 AM the whole camp is taking a hike in the mountains!"

Good reports from camp so far! This video shows morning exercises with fun songs and silliness.

As you pray for Last Bell's youth camp this week, please also pray for protection for Kyiv and all of Ukraine. The enemy knows Ukraine is short on defensive missiles and is taking advantage of that helplessness. Seventeen people were killed in last night's attacks on Kyiv. This children's hospital was struck; thankfully everyone was in shelters.

A Russian strike damaged a children’s hospital in Zaporizhzhia, but patients and staff escaped injury after taking shelter.

Camp for orphaned students starts on Thursday! Our staff is praying over camp for fifteen minutes every day, at 2:30 PM Eastern time (9:30 PM in Ukraine). Would you join them in prayer for this important week?

Educational Outreach director Yulia writes, "We pray for hearts to be ready to hear the Good News. For safety on the trip. For God's protection, for the health of our team and the students, and for lives to be transformed for God’s glory."
