What began as long-distance phone support blossomed into a family's relocation, their embrace by a welcoming congregation and ultimately a joyful, multi-generational baptism, at Owens Cross Roads UMC.

The General Board of Church and Society (GBCS) awards grants to United Methodist congregations and groups related to The United Methodist Church in three categories: Peace with Justice, Ethnic Local Church and Human Relations Day. To be considered for funding, applicants must submit the online application and all required documents by Aug. 31, 2026, at 5 p.m. EDT. Grant award notifications are planned for late October 2026.

We are on the move! North Alabama Conference staff are relocating to a new office over the next two weeks, with phone and internet service interrupted the week of August 10. Staff will start operations at the new Conference office the week of August 17. Thank you for your patience as we settle in and prepare to best serve your congregation at full capacity.

A father did not want to wait one more Sunday to declare his faith alongside his son. On Easter 2025, Ford's Chapel UMC in Harvest held its traditional sunrise service, which included a father-son baptism nobody in the congregation will forget. Announcing the 10 U.S. conference recipients of the 2026 Racial/Ethnic Local Church (RELC) and Multiethnic Ministries grants! 🎉

A joint initiative from Global Ministries and Higher Education and Ministry, these grants will support programs that foster leadership development and church growth in racial/ethnic communities across the country.

The 10 conference recipients are:

-Michigan Conference of The United Methodist Church – Racial/Ethnic Program Support
