Yesterday, as I drove, I stopped by a lake at sunset just to take in the beauty nature offers. As I walked slowly enjoying the serenity, I noticed a man that looked in his maybe late sixties sitting but appearing very sad. I stopped and asked if I could sit with him for just a moment. He kindly obliged and we sat together saying nothing to each other. I just felt he needed my presence not my words.
Then for what must have felt like 5 mins, he turned towards me and said. "Now I know that God hears even the whispers of a man who hates Him."
Stunned at his words i asked, how? He proceeds to tell me how he had just been through a bitter divorce that was his fault, lost his job of 26yrs. Looking at loosing his home tomorrow on foreclosure and just came and sat here wondering how to end it all. Then he said, "I just whispered in my heart, God if you're real then come sit with me, and suddenly you came out of no where to come sit with me for the past 1hr.
I was stunned realizing I had been there for an hour. Are you God? he asked, with this inquisitive look on his face. For a moment I was shot of words because I never knew i had been sitting for an hour. The i said to him, I'm only His servant who just wanted to enjoy his creation then I saw you sitting here and felt this strong urge to sit with you. I am not God, but I know He guides every step I take even the once that makes no sense to me.
Then i proceeded to share Jesus with him and we prayed together. After we prayed he said to me with such look of hope on his face, "Thank you for bringing God to sit with me." We exchanged numbers and i drove off, promising to keep in touch with him. You have given me something to look forward to my God friend, he said. I will be looking out for your call.
As i entered my car this wave of tears came over me knowing that The LORD can use even our sitting to make Himself known to humanity.
I am DEEPLY in Love with my LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.
