Sunday Reflection

As we close out our series on holiness, we did so by reflecting on God's call for the Church to be holy, and the reminder that this is both a personal, and corporate calling.

Isaiah 62.1-4; 12
For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet, until her righteousness goes forth like brightness, and her salvation like a torch that is burning. The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory; and you will be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord will designate. You will also be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. It will no longer be said to you, “Forsaken,” nor to your land will it any longer be said, “desolate”; but you will be called, “My delight is in her,” and your land, “Married”; for the Lord delights in you, and to Him your land will be married.
Go through, go through the gates, clear the way [h]for the people; build up, build up the highway, remove the stones, lift up a standard over the peoples. Behold, the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the earth, say to the daughter of Zion, “Lo, your salvation comes;behold His reward is with Him, and His recompense before Him.” And they will call them, “The holy people, the redeemed of the Lord”; and you will be called, “Sought out, a city not forsaken.”

What does it mean to be holy?
In our current series, Holy, Holy, Holy, we’ve explored the holiness of God and how His holiness reveals our own need. This Sunday, we’ll take the next step—what it looks like to live in response to God’s call: “Be holy as I am holy.”
Join us as we look at 1 Thessalonians 3:11–13 and discover how God shapes our lives to reflect His character.
Bible Study – 9:15 AM
Worship – 10:45 AM
We’d love to worship with you this Sunday.

1 Thessalonians 3.11-13
Now may our God and Father Himself and Jesus our Lord direct our way to you; and may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another, and for all people, just as we also do for you; so that He may establish your hearts without blame in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.

Did You Know?
Nearly 120,000 people live within a 3-mile radius of Westbury Baptist Church. If our neighborhood were its own city, it would rank among the 35 largest in Texas. And we’re right in the heart of one of the most culturally diverse communities in the most diverse city in the country.
We believe God has placed us here for a purpose — but we also know we’re not meant to serve our community alone. That’s why we partner with incredible organizations like Houston Welcomes Refugees, Ride With Refugees, and YoungLives, all of which call our campus home.
Whether you’re looking for a church to be part of or meaningful ways to serve, there’s a place for you here — and opportunities to make a real impact.
Come be part of what God is doing in our community.

Sunday Sermon Recap

Isaiah 6.1-8
In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called out to another and said, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.” And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke. Then I said, “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”
Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.”
Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

We were created out of relationship, and for relationship.
At Westbury, we believe being part of the church is about more than attending—it’s about engaging more fully in our relationship with God, and with one another. We do this by gathering to study the Scriptures, and to worship. In doing this, our relationship with God, and with one another deepens as we journey through the many seasons of life together.
Whether you’re exploring faith or looking for a church to call home, there’s a place for you here.

Join us this Sunday at Westbury!
Start your morning in Bible Study at 9:15 AM, followed by worship at 10:45 AM. We’re continuing our current series, Holy, Holy, Holy, as we explore what it means to encounter God’s holiness and respond to it in our lives.

Isaiah 6.1-8:
In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called out to another and said,
“Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts,
The whole earth is full of His glory.”
And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke. Then I said,
“Woe is me, for I am ruined!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I live among a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”
Send me!”
