Joyous Feast of the Dormition! We began the holiday on Friday evening with Great Vespers; a Procession to the singing of Marian hymns; and sharing blessed bread and w**e outdoors. On Saturday morning, we celebrated the Divine Liturgy, the blessing of flowers and herbs, and again had time for fellowship outdoors. We thank everyone who attended and participated, and to all who brought flowers! May the Mother of God always help and protect us!

Last night, just as we did last Monday, we offered the Paraklis Service to the Mother of God. Back in the "old days" of our Diocese, this service was a very popular devotion, especially during Lent. In many parts of the Orthodox world, it is especially offered during the Dormition Fast. What a blessing it was to sing this together in our Plain Chant/Prostopinije melodies and to raise up prayers for so many of our loved ones!
