Patricia Ann “Pat” Scarbrough went to be with Jesus on May 5th, 2025.
Pat was born in Levelland, Texas on Christmas Day, 1938 to Alma Lucinda (Pressley) Baugh and Doctor Othello Baugh. She met her true love, James Scarbrough, when she was 17 and he was 16. She patiently waited one year for him to graduate High School and they married two days after he graduated on May 29. She was a housewife all her married life and a mother to their two daughters Debora and Carmen.
As a young mother she sewed daily for her girls, making everything from their swimsuits to their wedding dresses. She followed in her mother’s footsteps as a talented artist. She oil painted, was proficient in watercolor and colored pencil, made stained glass, quilted, made special cards for your birthday, and many other things that she taught herself to do. She could learn to do anything she set her mind to, including helping her husband build their house at the family farm. She loved Christmas and everything that went with it, especially decorating and then having the family come to her house. As her grandchildren said “nothing was ever too much work for Memaw.” She had Cousins Camp for several summers, planning games and challenges for them. She loved to joke and have as much fun as the kids.
Outside was her happy place! She enjoyed camping, growing all kinds of vegetables, hoeing weeds and working with her flowers; every spring she would say, “I think they are prettier this year than they ever have been.”
Her favorite place to be was anywhere her husband was. She adored him and thought he could do anything…and he did for her. As of this past week, she had already planned his next project. They had a pure love for each other.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Aleene Reagan, Pauline Tupman, Thelma Snyder, and brother Rex Baugh. She is survived by her loving husband James Scarbrough. Her daughters Debora Poindexter and husband Jay Don, and Carmen Watson and husband Cary.
Grandchildren Chance Alewine and wife Shy, Alissa Poindexter, Trasa “Tray” Webber and husband Matthew, Jaylee Poindexter, Hannah Hall and husband Christopher, and Hudson Watson and wife Jordan.
Great-grandchildren Gray, Kat, Raydon, Jack, Dean, Hank, Ruthie and Avie.
Her nieces and nephews, whom she adored Frank Raegan and wife Rhonda, Christy Smith and husband Stan, Ramona Hatcher, Brett Baugh and wife Debbie.
She loved a party and enjoyed having her friends and family over to eat and play games, and anyone who visited could never leave too late; she always wanted you to stay longer. A favorite saying of hers was “Oh wait, I’ve got one more thing to show you.”
We sure will miss you.

At long last we will be returning to in-person services at the church building, this coming Lord's day, Sunday February 14. As always, please be vigilant in checking your temperature and evaluating how you feel before attending. We will meet for Bible class at 10:00, although there will be no children's or teen's Bible classes at this time. Worship will begin at 10:50, and while the disposable communion emblems and offering plates at the exits will continue to be in use, we will be singing, led by a song leader once again. Please wear masks into the building and during the service, including while we sing. There will be a Sunday evening service at 6:00. Midweek Bible study will resume in-person next week on Wednesday February 17th, however there will be no classes for children or teens at that time either. For those unable to return to meeting together we will continue to post video services online. Please be prayerful as we return to meeting at the building, and come ready to build up your brothers and sisters, as we worship and fellowship together. Thank you.
