According to tradition, the First Ecumenical Council was attended by 318 bishops, including the famous and greatly beloved Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra in Lycia, and Saint Spyridon, Bishop of Trimythous in Cyprus.

“The First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea of 325 was not just an episode of doctrinal confrontation with the heresies of the time, but also a fundamental and necessary step in the dogmatic formulation of the Orthodox faith and its confession as a saving truth.”
- Patriarch Daniel

No matter what job we do, God has given it to us for the same goal. To become holy. What can we do in our everyday lives to learn who Jesus is and how can we allow Him to live within us and shine through us?

On this past Sunday the Orthodox Church commemorated the Holy Myrrh bearing women, and Saints Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea. As Christ tells us in the Gospel reading for this Sunday Joseph of Arimathea was looking for the Kingdom of God, the Myrrh bearing women journeyed to the tomb of our Lord to anoint His body. They didn’t understand the resurrection but were transformed by their experience of the Risen Lord and followed the command to “go and tell”, their experience.

Following this theme, a few of 18 newly baptized converts were invited to speak about their own search for the Kingdom of God and how their experience of the resurrected Christ had transformed their life’s leading them to His Holy Church.

We thank God for the new Christians He has blessed us with and thank the speakers for sharing their personal experience for all of us to be reminded of the treasure we have inherited in the Holy Orthodox Faith. May we all follow the example of the Holy Myrrh-bearers and tell the world of the resurrection!
