C.S. Lewis writes in his work The Screwtape Letters, “Never forget that when we are dealing with any pleasure in its healthy and normal and satisfying form, we are, in a sense, on [our Heavenly Father's] ground... It is His invention... He made the pleasures... All [Satan and his devils] can do is to encourage... humans to take the pleasures which our [God] has produced, at times, or in ways, or in degrees, which He has forbidden."

In other words, pleasure is God's invention. It belongs to His domain.

All the enemy can do is take pleasurable activities and twist them, distort them, and corrupt them until they become unrecognizable.

The only restrictions God places on enjoyment are those that would ultimately corrupt our souls and lead us toward death.

Let go.

It's good to be repentant of our sin, but dwelling on it after we've been forgiven only serves to drag us into discouragement and rob us of the freedom we have through Christ's sacrifice.

Don’t rehearse it all week.

Don’t keep punishing yourself.

Don’t keep identifying yourself by it.

If Jesus carried it away, stop going back to visit it.
