Let’s pray for Kevin and Karen White and their two children, appointed missionaries serving in Colombia. Karen remembers asking her father as a child, “Who tells the people in far-off lands about Jesus?” He opened the Bible and showed her God’s command to go and make disciples. That moment stayed with her.

Years later, Kevin and Karen shaped their family around that call. While Kevin worked as a warehouse supervisor in the U.S., he shared life with people from five different countries. Their family even moved into a neighborhood where Spanish was the main language, so they could better connect with their neighbors.

When thousands of Venezuelans fled to Colombia during times of unrest, the Whites felt God’s pull to go. Now they serve through the International Mission Board in Colombia, continuing their lifelong mission of building bridges and sharing Christ’s love.

Kevin says, “It’s always a big adventure serving the Lord. Please pray God will be glorified in our ministry.”

Let’s lift up the White family, sent from Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lafayette, Indiana, asking God to bless their work, strengthen their family, and use them to bring many in Colombia to faith in Christ.

There are certain times in our personal and ministry lives, whether we are going through them or just after, that we recognize as pivotal moments. I believe that this year is one of those times. That is why I am writing a unique editorial for this edition.

Eric and Brittany Gibbs serve primarily on the Tohono O’Odham Nation and the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona. On the Tohono O’Odham Nation, only one percent of the population identifies as evangelical, and many villages have no known believers.

The Gibbs felt called to a village known for resisting the Gospel and outsiders. Despite discouragement from others, they prayed for the opportunity to plant a church there. They visited weekly, built relationships, helped families with basic needs, and served however they could.

“After several months, we received permission to begin a Bible study,” Eric said. For a while, it seemed fruitless—until one woman attended and gave her life to Christ. “Once that happened, there was a domino effect,” Eric said. “Within the next year, 20 people trusted Christ, and a church was born!”

The day the first two men in the village were baptized, the Gibbs were reminded of God’s faithfulness and His power to answer prayer.

You are a part of this story! Giving through the Cooperative Program helps support missionaries like the Gibbs as they serve in hard-to-reach places. Pray that Eric and Brittany will remain faithful and not grow weary in their ministry.
