Walking Where Faith Once Walked
Scripture:
“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us.” Ephesians 5:1-2 (KJV)
I want to apologize for missing a day of devotion. Traveling and adjusting to a new schedule made it difficult to stay on track. However, God blessed me with an incredible opportunity that I couldn’t wait to share.
I had the privilege of visiting Ephesus, the ancient city where the Apostle Paul ministered and where one of the seven churches of Revelation was located. As I walked those stone roads and looked at the ruins around me, I couldn’t help but think about the faithful men and women who once lived there. I thought about Paul, his dedication to spreading the Gospel, and the sacrifices he made to share the message of Christ.
What made the experience even more meaningful was remembering a sermon preached by our interim pastor, Bro. Owen Bozeman, on the Seven Churches of Revelation. The Church of Ephesus was one of those churches. Standing there brought those biblical lessons to life in a way I had never experienced before.
As I walked through Ephesus, I imagined Paul traveling those same streets, teaching, encouraging believers, and enduring hardships for the sake of Christ. His life reminds us that faith is not just something we talk about it is something we live every day. Paul remained faithful despite opposition, uncertainty, and suffering. He kept his eyes on God’s calling rather than his circumstances.
The challenge for us is the same. We may never walk the streets of Ephesus, but every day we walk roads where our faith can shine. People are watching how we live, how we treat others, and whether our lives reflect Christ. Like Paul, we are called to live faithfully wherever God has placed us.
Something to Think About
If someone walked behind you for a day and observed your actions, attitudes, and words, would they see evidence of a faithful walk with Christ?
Summary
Visiting Ephesus was a powerful reminder that the people we read about in Scripture lived real lives, faced real struggles, and remained faithful to God. Paul’s example challenges us to live our faith daily, not just in church but everywhere we go. May we walk faithfully in the paths God has given us and leave a testimony that points others to Christ.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the examples of faith found in Your Word. Help me to walk faithfully as Paul did, living a life that honors You and points others toward Your truth. Strengthen me to remain steadfast in every season and to follow Your calling wherever You lead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
