Just a couple of pictures from the fantastic Spiritual Growth Retreat held at Epworth by the Sea March 24-26, 2023. What a fantastic study leader Sue Owens was. She used humor to get the message across - Fully Relying on God (Frog). You missed a treat. We had a great silent auction, and the music was exceptional.

Mark your calendars! Mission u 2023 will be held July 14-16, 2023 at Epworth by the Sea. Watch for more details in the next couple of days.

Twenty-one years ago on September 11, 2001, nineteen terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners and carried out su***de attacks against the World Trade Towers, the Pentagon, and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Shanksville, PA. Almost 3,000 people were killed during the attacks.

Today is a day I will never forget, and I hope you will not forget it also. To say the least, it changed our lives forever. I was working at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC; and the fear and uncertainty I felt that day was unbelievable as to what was occurring and what location was the next target. Communications in the National Capitol area was almost non-existent because all the lines were overloaded because they were being used to relay emergency messages. I vividly remember the next day when Members of Congress stood arm-in-arm on the Capitol steps in a show of unity. Our leaders were united, and our citizens showed so much patriotism. US Flags were flying everywhere. Now, twenty-one years later, that unity is almost non-existent. Our country is so divided.

I invite you to reflect on September 11, 2001, and remember the service and sacrifice of all the individuals impacted by the attacks and the attacks’ aftereffects. Each time I see a picture of the gaping hole in the side of the Pentagon where the airline hit it, it brings tears to my eyes. Let’s all work to rekindle the spirit of unity that arose in America in the immediate aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attack.

What a great Social Action Workshop we had on Saturday, Aug 6th at Centerville UMC. The subject was the Cost of Poverty and the two ladies from Open Door in Columbus did a fantastic job running the workshop. The role playing certainly made it a lot more realistic and hopefully, all of the attendees now have a better understanding of some of the issues that people in poverty face each day. Approximately 40 United Women in Faith Ladies and one gentleman attended the workshop.
