We’re marking PTSD Awareness Month by leaning into conversation, connection, and care for the veterans who’ve given so much for all of us. If you or a veteran you know is navigating tough moments, you’re not alone. Start with a message, a call, or a visit, reach out to a chaplain or a trusted veteran-support agency. The first step is often the hardest, but it can be the most healing.

What you can do today:

☎️ Reach out: A simple check-in can mean a lot. Ask, “How are you really doing?” and listen without judgment.

🗣️ Start the conversation: Normalise talking about mental health. Phrases like “I’m here to listen” or “What would help you today?” can open doors.

🚪 Connect to support: Chaplains provide faith-informed, confidential support that respects every belief. Pair that with professional veteran services (counselling, housing, employment, medical care) for a holistic approach.

📖 Share resources: Provide contacts for chaplains, veteran helplines and local veteran services in your network.

☕️ Follow up: Ongoing check-ins build trust and reduce isolation. A recurring message or a coffee meet-up can make a difference.

Why it matters:
PTSD doesn’t define a veteran’s worth or future; connection and compassionate support can transform recovery.
Early conversations reduce stigma, encourage seeking help and improve outcomes.
A coordinated network of chaplains and agencies creates a safety net that respects individual experiences and beliefs.

If you’re seeking support or want to learn how to connect veterans with the right resources, our chaplaincy team is here to help. We’re committed to meeting veterans where they are, with respect, confidentiality, and a listening ear.

🙏 Please share this post to amplify awareness and reach those who might be hesitant to seek help.
