Camp Friedenswald

Camp Friedenswald was founded in 1949 by leaders from across Central District Conference with the vision of providing a place for young adults to connect with others and God within the beauty of creation. Programs and facilities accommodate a wide range of ages, activities, and gatherings through summer camps, winter camps, retreats, and getaways. Many members of Madison Mennonite Church have experience with camping and working at Friedenswald.

Focus Scripture of the Week
Luke 8:5-8

A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”

When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

Brethren Mennonite Council

The mission of Mennonite Council for LGBT Interests is to cultivate an inclusive church and society and to care for the Mennonite and Brethren le***an, gay, bis*xual, transgender, and allied community. A significant part of BMC’s work is to advocate for lgbtq people within Mennonite Church USA, Mennonite Church Canada and the Church of the Brethren. Because of denominational policies of exclusion, BMC has no official institutional affiliation with any of these denominations. We continue to seek recognition and change in the CoB, and repentance and transformation in MC USA following its May 2022 resolution on lgbtq inclusion. BMC does work extensively with Mennonite and Brethren congregations through our Supportive Communities Network.

Focus scripture for the week: Matthew 22: 37-40
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
