You cannot always control what happens around you—but through Christ, you can determine what is permitted to rule within you.
Jesus said:
“Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.”
—John 14:27 NASB95
Notice those words: DO NOT LET.
Fear may knock.
Temptation may call.
Troubling thoughts may come.
The enemy may look for an opening.
But none of them has an automatic right to rule your life.

It is easy to become an expert on what everyone else needs to change while ignoring the work God wants to do in us.
But imagine what would happen if we invested the same energy in developing our character, strengthening our faith, correcting our habits, and pursuing our purpose that we often spend examining other people.
Jesus asked, “Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:3 NASB)
Here is one of my personal commitments:
“TO GIVE SO MUCH TIME TO THE IMPROVEMENT OF MYSELF THAT I HAVE NO TIME TO CRITICIZE OTHERS.”
I have enough to work on in me.
When I focus on becoming wiser, healthier, stronger, kinder, and more like Christ, criticism loses its appeal. Personal growth is a full-time assignment—and the person who is serious about fulfilling God’s purpose has little time left for picking apart someone else’s life.
Work on your calling.
Strengthen your character.
Guard your heart.
Keep growing.
You cannot control everyone around you, but with God’s help, you can become better than you were yesterday.

That label was never His idea.

You picked it up somewhere. Maybe someone spoke it over you. Maybe you spoke it over yourself after enough bad days in a row. Either way, you've been carrying it around like it's your name, and it's not.

Here's the truth whether you're ready to hear it or not: every label is an attempt to write a story God never authored. The enemy doesn't need you to believe a lie forever. He just needs you to keep rehearsing it. Keep repeating what happened to you until it starts sounding like who you are.

But rehearsing your pain isn't the same as processing it. One keeps you stuck. The other sets you free.

God isn't waiting for you to feel better before He tells you the truth. He's already named you. The question is whether you're going to keep reciting the label or start rehearsing what He actually said.

Put the label down. It was never His idea.
