Although the doors will be open to do the live service, we are not encouraging anyone to come to the building. We are going to do everything we can to make the service available online. This year, with an even more direct plan, we are putting all our efforts into the call of the church, to make disciples. We will not be aiming at becoming the largest church. We will not have the greatest amenities. We will not even have the best activities. But we will be very serious and precise in building the community that loves God, serves each other, and desires to see everyone grow to maturity in Jesus (Ephesians 4:11-16). If that is something you see important or even want to see what that looks like, join us this Sunday at 10:30 as we try to figure it out together.

If you are not aware of what is going on in Jamaica, there is currently a category 4, possibly 5 hurricane headed straight to the island.

Most of you who attend know of our connection with Jamaica. We are feeling burdened by what we see unfolding on our phones. 160mph winds, 30 inches of rain, and so much more.

All we can do is pray. Pray for the safety of the missionaries we know there and the people of the island.

Have you ever asked the question, why is prayer so powerful if God doesn’t always answer our prayers the way we want Him to?

Just because God answers differently than we want Him to sometimes, doesn’t make prayer any less powerful. Prayer is powerful for so many reasons.

Prayer connects us to God Himself.
The greatest power in prayer isn’t in what we get but in Who we’re speaking to. Prayer keeps up close to God, reminding us of His presence and love.
Jeremiah 29:12

Prayer changes us.
Even if our circumstances don’t change, prayer can reshape our hearts. It gives us peace, perspective, and strength we couldn’t have had on our own.
Philippians 4:6-7

Prayer invites God’s will to be done.
Sometimes in the moment it seems like unanswered prayers are wasted prayers, but often God is working out a bigger plan. Prayer positions us to align with His will instead of our own.
Matthew 6:10

Prayer is spiritual warfare.
When we pray, we’re resisting the enemy and declaring our dependence on God. Satan hates prayer because it’s powerful in ways we can’t always see.
Ephesians 6:18

So, God is always answering our prayers. But not always in ways we would expect. Sometimes it’s a “no”, sometimes it’s, “yes”or sometimes it’s just, “not yet” . He may even say, “I have something better.”

Jacobs story is too close to home. He spends his whole life trying to manipulate and make a blessing in his life at the expense of all of the relationships around him. Have you met someone like that? Maybe you are like him. Or maybe, like Esau, you have been the victim of one like him? The irony of the whole story is that while Jacob is trying to make it happen, God is in the background wanting to give him exactly what he tries to take from everyone else. How does someone find a blessing in life? That's the struggle of all of human history and the answer is found in the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus! Come study it all with us starting Sunday at 10:30!
