What comes to mind when you hear the word “peace”? For some, it’s a quiet evening after a long day, or perhaps a moment of solitude in nature. But let’s be honest; how often does life truly feel peaceful? More often than not, it feels like peace is just out of reach. We search for it in our relationships, our jobs, or even in small escapes (date nights or vacations), but those moments don’t last. The truth is; we often look for peace in all the wrong places. This morning, we’re going to explore Philippians 4:4-9 where Paul shows us “How to Cultivate A Joyful Peace” through four steps that isn’t tied to circumstances and can’t be taken away.

Last Sunday, August 30, 2026 the GREAT people of GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH in Greensburg Pennsylvania honored me and Jeannie (Filek - Hempfield class of 76) with a special Retirement Dinner after serving as their Pastor for nearly 16 years!
My Christian service journey started in 1985 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Fairmont W.V. where I served as a Youth Pastor, Bus Pastor and Bible Class teacher at Calvary Christian School. We had the BEST YOUTH GROUP in the State of West Virginia! Two years later I accepted the call to become the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Elkhorn, Wisconsin where I served a wonderful group of people for nearly 25 years.
Sixteen years ago, The Lord graciously allowed me to come “home” to Pastor our great church where I accepted Christ as my Savior and was baptized. To Pastor your home church is an honor and a privilege that very few men ever get to experience. I’m so grateful for this unique privilege. It was a dream and an honor to be able to have my home church as my last ministry, but now after laboring for 42 years for the Lord, the time to RETIRE has come.
I’m looking forward to serving under our new Pastor, Timothy Bower and anticipate continuing my legacy of volunteering along with filling in for area vacationing Pastors.
