Biggie’s 30 Days Of Killer Movies Powered by the legendary Woods Of Terror!

Night 22

The Hills Have Eyes (1977)

Streamed On Hoopla

Talk about ending with a classic! Surprisingly I have never seen the original. I saw the 2006 version and that was okay. I definitely like the original better. Talk about the vacation from Hell. That’s this movie. Not that I planned too but I don’t think I’ll be driving through the desert Southwest anytime soon. This is definitely a scary, disturbing movie that might make some people downright uncomfortable. Watch it at your own risk but I do recommend it.

Night 21

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (2026)

Streamed On HBO Max

Let me start with a warning… This is NOT a fun mummy movie. There is no Brendan Fraser, no The Rock, no real fun or funny moments. This is not a family movie. Now that we have that covered, we move on to the review. This is a horror movie. It’s gory and decently scary. It is too long and at times I kind of lost interest. It’s a fairly classic mummy story this time involving a young girl. I think it’s worth checking out if you’re a horror fan but not something I’ll be rushing to watch again.

Night 20

Evil Dead Burn (2026)

Streamed on HBO Max

This is the sixth movie in the Evil Dead franchise and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I went in not expecting much but found it to be very entertaining and even funny at times. I would say it is medium scary but definitely fits the mold of a horror movie. Described as “family reunion from hell” as each member becomes a Deadite when they reunite for a funeral. Definitely a solid Halloween week watch.

Night 19

The Hitcher (1986)

Streamed on Cinemax

This movie is what flashes through my head every single time I pass a hitchhiker. I first watched it at a sleepover when I was very young and it has definitely stuck with me. Last night I watched it again and it still gets to me. It is scary, great performances from the actors, it’s got definitely got the murder and blood part down, (Finger in the fries anyone?) and it’s not overly long. It does what it needs to do in an hour and a half. So don’t pick up hitchhikers and if you need a good Halloween watch I think this would fit nicely.

Night 18

The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976)

Streamed on Amazon Prime

This is described as a “semi-documentary” and it tells the true story of a hooded killer who committed several murders and attacks in the town of Texarkana Arkansas in 1946. Now, several liberties have been taken with this movie so what you see isn’t exactly what happened. While I did enjoy the movie it was not overly scary and the acting is pretty bad. In fact I found the factoids about the movie a little more interesting than the movie itself. But if you have never seen it I say it is still worth a watch for all the future movies it inspired.

Night 17

Dog Soldiers (2002)

Streamed on Amazon Prime

I would call this movie action horror because it has both. Also, our first werewolf movie in a long time. This popped up on a few best of lists and I knew absolutely nothing going in. It’s the story of a small group of British soldiers on a training mission in the Scottish Highlands who encounter a pack of werewolves. Decent little twist in the movie and overall while not great I’m glad I watched it. If you’re looking for something scary though, I don’t think this is it. Definitely gory, not real scary.

Night 16

When A Stranger Calls (1979)

Streamed on Amazon Prime

What an amazing opening 20 minutes. I mean even watching at home I was tense and sitting up. Legendary opening. Then the rest of the movie is just kind of meh for me. The ending is decent but the middle just dragged. But man that opening is iconic. Based on the ol’ babysitter and someone in the house urban legend I can see why the opening scene truly had people screaming in the theater. I still think if you’re a horror fan it’s worth watching, but I don’t know if I’d put it on my yearly Halloween watch list.

Night 15

Hokum (2026)

Streamed on Hulu

Talk about being surprised how much I enjoyed a movie. I went into this knowing nothing and walked away really liking this movie. A writer goes to Ireland to spread his parents ashes and let’s just say things at the cozy little Inn he is staying at go very wrong. It’s got hauntings, murder, jump scares, and I really enjoyed the story. Well worth a watch in my opinion. The surprise of the season so far!
