Drawing deeply from the life and work of movement leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Ella Baker in conjunction with over 50 years of connected struggle in and around Greensboro; the Beloved Community Center of Greensboro’s connection to the social justice movement started long before it’s official founding 20 years ago. Here at BCC, we want to give a HUGE congratulations to Kamal Bell , one of Beloved's children who got an early start here in the garden at Faith Community Church. We are extremely proud to honor Kamal Bell as a Loeb Fellow by the Harvard Graduate School of Design, the first Aggie to be granted this fellowship.

Kamal is a two-time graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, earning his Bachelor in Science in Animal Science ('14) and a Master in Science in Agricultural Education ('15). He founded Sankofa Farms in 2016 with the goal of creating a sustainable food source for residents living in food deserts in Durham and rural areas of Orange County.

Show some love for Kamal and all the hard work he has put into food sustainability here in NC!💚💙
