Our desire is to be Christ's Church in this place: a living community of worship that is caring, serving, witnessing and maturing into the people God wants us to be. We gather each Sunday morning for worship at 9:00 & 10:45am and also at many other times throughout each week for learning, fellowship and service. Earlier this month, Calvary's International Ministry Gathering brought together friends from many nations and backgrounds—all united in fellowship and community. Looking around, we saw diverse faces, heard unique accents, and listened to stories from across the globe. In a world that often divides by borders and languages, this gathering painted a beautiful picture of what God always intended: a diverse community united in His love. Families enjoyed delicious food and vibrant community, while children were thrilled to receive new school supplies.

This gathering offered a glimpse of Revelation 7:9 in action: “a great multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing together.” If you want to get connected to Calvary's International Ministry, please contact Lana ([email protected]).

As followers of Christ, we are bound together by the Holy Spirit. On Sunday, we had the privilege to worship in unity and diversity alongside a talented worship band from Calvin University, catching a glimpse of the beautiful tapestry God is weaving at our church. Revelation 7:9 reminds us of the great multitude of every nation, tribe, people, and language standing before the throne and praising the King.

We heard Omemma, “God who always does good” in Igbo (Nigerian dialect) and repeated Wo ye kesi! with our hearts set on "Great are you, Lord." Our prayer is that through our differences and diverse backgrounds, we continue to see and reflect His boundless love and faithfulness.

What a joy to experience a taste of that heavenly worship right here in our church family!

Our Juneteenth movie night, this past Sunday, was an opportunity to “remember the grapes”—a reference to Sunday’s sermon (http://calvarygr.org/sermon-archive/), where Gabe Jorden encouraged us to walk like Caleb in Numbers 13:30. Just as Caleb remembered the evidence of God’s provision and faithfulness despite the challenges ahead, we were reminded to recall God’s faithfulness in delivering His people and to move forward in faith rather than fear.

Pastor Rasool Berry, host of the Faith Under Construction podcast, led a thoughtful time of reflection following the film. He encouraged us to continue the journey of reconciliation and unity by listening, learning, leveraging opportunities to honor others, and looking for ways to fill in the gaps where understanding, support, and connection are needed.

Whether you were unable to join us or would like to rewatch the film with others, you can view it on Amazon Prime or visit Our Daily Bread's website (https://odbmedia.org/).

The journey continues, and this fall we will be hosting a screening of The Return, a documentary on Jonathan Irons. At 16 years old, Jonathan Irons was arrested for a crime he didn’t commit and spent 23 years in Missouri’s most infamous prisons. By God’s grace, he emerged not bitter but transformed. Stay tuned for the date and details.

Learning from each other is one way we grow in love and compassion. In light of this, we invite you to a special screening of the Our Daily Bread documentary Juneteenth: Faith and Freedom, this Sunday, June 21 at 6:00pm in the Chapel. In this powerful film, you’ll discover how Scripture shaped the faith of enslaved people, visit the church where America’s first Juneteenth celebration took place, and learn why newly liberated men and women credited God for their freedom. Following the documentary, there will be a Q&A with our Mercy & Missions Team Leader, Celeste McDonough and Pastor Rasool Berry to help us process the film and its message together.
