Jewish high schoolers in West Michigan: here's your shot at $500 and a byline. ✍️

The Jewish Historical Society of Michigan is asking students in grades 9–12: "As a Jewish Michigander, what does America's 250th birthday mean to you?" 250–500 words, no research needed, just your own voice. Winning essays get published in JHSM's Bulletin.

Facilitated by Robert Deaner and Carolyn Shapiro-Shapin, this group is designed to help us build our understanding of Israeli history, politics, economics, and culture so we can speak with knowledge and confidence as we Stand with Israel. Each session centers on a text, podcast, or other source exploring one facet of Israeli history and society.

Our goal is to forge community connections and build resilience through these conversations. No prior background needed, just curiosity and a willingness to engage.
