Always good to remember: Just be a friend.

For many it is a leap of faith just to go to church on Sunday. Can we understand why it is so important that members of the Church reach out to others in loving kindness?

Description
Life Story volunteers interview terminally ill hospice participants and provide a written keepsake of a patients life story for family members. Interviews are devised of questions from the BeRemembered.com website and responses are recorded either on paper or directly on BeRemembered.com. The goal of the life story volunteer is to give patients an opportunity to share their story, and provide companionship, purpose, and facilitation of grief through reminiscing before they pass away. The life story volunteer also gives loved ones an opportunity to learn about, reminisce, and grieve their loved one. This is a great way to learn about history from those who lived it. And our participants find that telling their story gives their life meaning and purpose in their final days.

If you are considering becoming a life story volunteer, we invite you to our BeRemembered Life Story training on January 17th from 3-4PM. We will talk about the benefits of reminiscing, how to use the BeRemembered website, share stories of how life stories have touched others lives, and discuss how to become a life story volunteer with Emmanuel Hospice. You can RSVP by contacting Heidi at 616-719-0919. This event will be held in the Emmanuel Hospice office at St Ann's Home at 2161 Leonard Street NW.

If you have had the recent loss of a loved one, we ask that you wait a 12 month bereavement period before volunteering.

Create and share my bucket list. Write my biography, my words of wisdom, and my funeral plans to share with family & friends. Free site for recording my life stories and messages.
