Long Green Baptist Church

Long Green Baptist Church We are a family of believers who Love God, Love others, and seek to make Him known in our community. No matter who you are, we have a place for you.

Who we are:
At Long Green, we work different jobs, we live in different houses, we drive different cars, but we walk the same faith. Long Green is a place where we plant seeds of faith through our children's ministries, student ministries, and adult ministries. We encourage each other as our faith grows, and we reach out into the community sharing the good news of our faith. Our church family cel

ebrates together, comforts each other, and provides for one another. In a world that changes and shifts, we try to provide a constant in God's love for the residents of the greater Baltimore area. We welcome you to join our faith family. At Long Green, you are family. What We Believe:
At Long Green, we embrace Saint Augustine’s philosophy: "In the non-essentials, freedom; in the essentials, unity; in all things, love." We refuse to allow things that are not important to threaten the loving fellowship we cherish. However, when it comes to our beliefs there are essentials/non-negotiables— that are the foundational to our unity. As a church body, we have found the 2000 edition of The Baptist Faith and Message to be the best summary of those essential doctrines and beliefs. Our Worship:
God divinely wove into our entire being a desire to worship. Just as we were created to be in relationship to God with our whole self, so too was worship designed to engage us on every level. True worship isn’t a simple act of song or praise, just as it isn’t only an event that we attend on a Sunday morning. True worship is a lifestyle. Join us as we worship HIM! Our gatherings are a time of worship— in music, song, scripture, and God’s Word. Pastor: Mark Schmitz

Playgrounds have a unique way of connecting families, friends, and communities. They are places where children can play freely, laughter fills the air, and lasting memories are created. They remind us of cherished moments from our own childhoods, our children’s lives, and the generations yet to come.

Today, in honor of Tom Miller’s birthday, we are grateful to announce a project inspired by his legacy.
Our playground team invites you to join them in prayer as they work to create a space that celebrates the lives and memories of both Tom Miller and Meredeth Bennett. More importantly, our hope is that this playground will serve as a lasting reflection of Faith, Hope, and Love for our community, neighbors, and friends.

We are excited to share updates as the project moves forward and sincerely appreciate your prayers, encouragement, and support throughout this journey.

Join us this morning as we continue our sermon series: "Family by the Book". In this sermon series we will explore biblical principles for building strong, Christ-centered homes by addressing marriage, parenting, and godly relationships. This morning we will wrap up our study of God’s command to husbands, what a Christlike love looks like, and the truths we can unpack from the book of Ephesians.

Ephesians 5:25-33
25 - Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,
26 - so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
27 - that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.
28 - So husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself;
29 - for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church,
30 - because we are parts of His body.
31 - For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
32 - This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
33 - Nevertheless, as for you individually, each husband is to love his own wife the same as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.

Ephesians 5:22-24
22 - Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23 - For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.
24 - But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.

Join us this Sunday as we ordain and install two new Deacons to our Deacon team. We will look at Mark 10, where we learn about the call to serve, and see that in God’s Kingdom, the way UP is DOWN.

Mark 10:42-45
42 – Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
43 – Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
44 – and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
45 – For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

Join us this morning as we begin a new sermon series: "Family by the Book". In this sermon series we will explore biblical principles for building strong, Christ-centered homes by addressing marriage, parenting, and godly relationships. This morning we will explore God’s design for Marriage and the truths we can unpack from the book of Genesis and Ephesians.

Genesis 2:18-25
18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” 19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. 20 The man gave names to all the livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. 21 So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 And the Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said, “At last this is bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called ‘woman,’ Because she was taken out of man.”
24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked, but they were not ashamed.

Ephesians 5:31-32
31 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. 32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
