At Long Green, we work different jobs, we live in different houses, we drive different cars, but we walk the same faith. Long Green is a place where we plant seeds of faith through our children's ministries, student ministries, and adult ministries. We encourage each other as our faith grows, and we reach out into the community sharing the good news of our faith. Our church family cel

ebrates together, comforts each other, and provides for one another. In a world that changes and shifts, we try to provide a constant in God's love for the residents of the greater Baltimore area. We welcome you to join our faith family. At Long Green, you are family. What We Believe:
At Long Green, we embrace Saint Augustine’s philosophy: "In the non-essentials, freedom; in the essentials, unity; in all things, love." We refuse to allow things that are not important to threaten the loving fellowship we cherish. However, when it comes to our beliefs there are essentials/non-negotiables— that are the foundational to our unity. As a church body, we have found the 2000 edition of The Baptist Faith and Message to be the best summary of those essential doctrines and beliefs. Our Worship:
God divinely wove into our entire being a desire to worship. Just as we were created to be in relationship to God with our whole self, so too was worship designed to engage us on every level. True worship isn’t a simple act of song or praise, just as it isn’t only an event that we attend on a Sunday morning. True worship is a lifestyle. Join us as we worship HIM! Hope for the Filthy: Zechariah 3:1-10
This Fall we’re taking a deep dive into Zechariah, one of the twelve Minor Prophets. He writes after the return from exile in Babylon. Although back in the Promised Land, God’s People remain under the thumb of pagan overlords. The foundation of the new temple is a dim shadow of the former glory of Solomon’s temple. The people are likely asking, “Is this all there is?!”
Through a series of visions and prophetic declarations, Zechariah warns the people of slipping back into the rebellious patterns of their forefathers. He calls them to repentance, obedience, and tells of the coming of the Messiah. He looks forward to a restored Jerusalem which exists to bring blessing to the whole world. As we read Zechariah through the lens of Jesus’s Person and work, the prophet takes our ache and longing in this broken world, translating the prayer “your kingdom come” into the cry, “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”

Zechariah 3:1-10
1 - Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. �2 - The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! Indeed, the Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”
3 - Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and standing before the angel.
4 - He spoke and said to those who were standing before him, saying, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” Again he said to him, “See, I have taken your iniquity away from you and will clothe you with festal robes.”
5 - Then I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with garments, while the angel of the Lord was standing by.
6 - And the angel of the Lord admonished Joshua, saying,
7 - “Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘If you will walk in My ways and if you will perform My service, then you will also govern My house and also have charge of My courts, and I will grant you free access among these who are standing here.
8 - Now listen, Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who are sitting in front of you—indeed they are men who are a symbol, for behold, I am going to bring in My servant the Branch.
9 - For behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua; on one stone are seven eyes. Behold, I will engrave an inscription on it,’ declares the Lord of hosts, ‘and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
10 - ‘In that day,’ declares the Lord of hosts, ‘every one of you will invite his neighbor to sit under his vine and under his fig tree.’”

Four Horns, Four Craftsmen, and a Measuring Line: Zechariah 1:8-2:13

Zechariah 1:8-2:13

18 Then I looked up, and there before me were four horns. 19 I asked the angel who was speaking to me, “What are these?” He answered me, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem.” 20 Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen. 21 I asked, “What are these coming to do?” He answered, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no one could raise their head, but the craftsmen have come to terrify them and throw down these horns of the nations who lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to scatter its people.” A Man With a Measuring Line
2:1 Then I looked up, and there before me was a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2 I asked, “Where are you going?” He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem, to find out how wide and how long it is.” 3 While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him 4 and said to him: “Run, tell that young man, ‘Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. 5 And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’
6 “Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the Lord, “for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven,” declares the Lord. 7 “Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!” 8 For this is what the Lord Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye— 9 I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them. Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me. 10 “Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the Lord. 11 “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you. 12 The Lord will inherit Judah as his portion in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem. 13 Be still before the Lord, all mankind, because he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.”

Zechariah 1:7-17
7) - On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah, the son of Iddo. 8) - During the night I had a vision, and there before me was a man mounted on a red horse. He was standing among the myrtle trees in a ravine. Behind him were red, brown and white horses.
9) - I asked, “What are these, my lord?” The angel who was talking with me answered, “I will show you what they are.” 10) - Then the man standing among the myrtle trees explained, “They are the ones the Lord has sent to go throughout the earth.” 11) -And they reported to the angel of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees, “We have gone throughout the earth and found the whole world at rest and in peace.” 12) - Then the angel of the Lord said, “Lord Almighty, how long will you withhold mercy from Jerusalem and from the towns of Judah, which you have been angry with these seventy years?” 13) - So the Lord spoke kind and comforting words to the angel who talked with me. 14) - Then the angel who was speaking to me said, “Proclaim this word: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I am very jealous for Jerusalem and Zion,
15) - and I am very angry with the nations that feel secure. I was only a little angry, but they went too far with the punishment.’ 16) - “Therefore this is what the Lord says: ‘I will return to Jerusalem with mercy, and there my house will be rebuilt. And the measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem,’ declares the Lord Almighty. 17) - “Proclaim further: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘My towns will again overflow with prosperity, and the Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.’”

Zechariah 1:1-6
1 - In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the prophet, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo saying,
2 - “The Lord was very angry with your fathers.
3 - Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Lord of armies says: “Return to Me,” declares the Lord of armies, “that I may return to you,” says the Lord of armies.
4 - “Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying, ‘This is what the Lord of armies says: “Return now from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.”’ But they did not listen or pay attention to Me,” declares the Lord.
5 - “Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?
6 - But did My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, not overtake your fathers? Then they repented and said, ‘Just as the Lord of armies planned to do to us in accordance with our ways and our deeds, so He has dealt with us.’”’”
