Sunday, we gather for a moment that connects us all: Communion.

It's more than just a ritual; it's a powerful reminder of grace, forgiveness, and the unbreakable bond we share as a community. It’s a time to pause, reflect, and remember the incredible love that unites us. As Jesus said, "Do this in remembrance of me." (1 Corinthians 11:24).
No matter where you are in your faith journey, you have a place at this table. Whether you've been with us for years or are joining for the first time, our doors and hearts are open to you. Let's come together to share in this sacred meal.

Join us for Communion Sunday, streaming live on YouTube () or our online campus live.mtzionlife.org.

A HUGE thank you to Joe Connell owner of Phoenix Tree Care for donating his company's services to remove this dead tree and its many branches that fell and damaged stones in the cemetery. Joe's generous and loving act is a big help to the Cemetery and Church, and we are most grateful.

A group of Goucher College students led by their professor, Dr. Ann Duncan (on the right in maroon jacket), listen attentively to Mt. Zion members Beverly Harvey and Cheryl Worthington (2 women on left) as they explain some of the cemetery's history and geography. As their primary semester project, the students will soon be conducting and documenting oral history interviews with some of the older Mt. Zion members. The interviews will be part of the cemetery rehabilitation project.

This sign was installed today, completing (at long last) steps of restoration, installation, painting and now signage for the Hitching Post. It's such a touching, meaningful artifact in the Mt. Zion AME Church Cemetery!

Linda Copeland, a friend of the Mt. Zion Cemetery Rehabilitation effort, died on December 13 from the effects of bone cancer. Linda worked for Allied Universal Security Services and was Manager of Security at Element Fleet Management in Sparks.

Linda had a “village” of friends, with several who were particularly close and supportive in recent months: former wife Tricia Ford-Copeland, Pam Southall, Rita Ennis, Addie Radmy, Chris Clifford, Valerie and Rev. Ken Ironside, Rev. Stanley Newsome, and Valerie Clash.

The surviving family includes brothers Lendon Copeland, Vincent Jenkins, and David Barnes, sisters Victoria Copeland and Ivah Copeland, niece Lakeysha Copeland, nephews Kaquan Copeland and Daryl Copeland, and goddaughter Traniyah Craddieth.

A service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held January 14 at Chestnut Grove Presbyterian Church, 3701 Sweet Air Road, Phoenix, MD. A family and friends reception will begin at Noon, and the service will begin at 1 pm. It was Linda’s wish that contributions in her memory be made to Mt. Zion AME Church Cemetery Rehabilitation Project, 12728 Manor Road in Glen Arm, MD 21057. The history of this old Baltimore County African American church located a few miles from where she lived was compelling to Linda and she followed with interest the cemetery rehabilitation efforts. On April 30, 2022, when the project had a major community event, Linda helped by staffing the table where attendees signed in and she gave badges to speakers, musicians and special guests. She was excited to meet several community leaders that day.

An earlier post featured the work that students at Goucher College have been performing in support of our cemetery's rehabilitation. The article linked below appeared recently in the Goucher College newspaper, and described the students' work in more detail. https://quinnews.com/goucher-students-preserving-black-history-in-ams-230.
