Proverbs 17:22
A joyful heart is good medicine but a crushed Spirit dries up the bones
Have you ever started the day in a really good mood, only for it to be ruined by someone else with a sour attitude? That is what this verse is talking about. When we are good to people, especially when we do not feel like it, that kindness can have a powerful impact on their emotions, as well as ours. Being kind often goes hand in hand with denying ourselves in some way, whether it means choosing to talk to a friend instead of watching tv, or just pulling ourselves about of a pile of self-pity in order to be a welcoming face for our spouses or friends. God uses these moments to teach us selflessness; a tiny reflection of what Jesus did for us. Employing a kind spirit is honoring to god, a blessing to those around us, and refining maturity for ourselves.
Thank you Lord for your love your kindness and your mercy on us. Please be with us as we go throughout our days to reflect a joyful attitude towards others and ourselves. Thank you Lord for all that you do. Amen
