Vietnamese 5:00pm John XXIII Parish came into existence on January 4, 2002. The Noonan Academy generously shared their facility with us during the planning and building of our church. Our first Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 12, 2002. Plans for the new Church were undertaken almost immediately after our first weeken

d of liturgies. On March 1, 2002, we were canonically erected as a parish. On June 20, 2002, the initial preliminary plans for our new Church building were put on display and shared for the first time with our parishioners. The initial plans were changed to establish a Church with 1350 seats plus 300 more in the Chapel area. A ground breaking ceremony was held on April 23, 2003. On December 25, 2004, Christmas Day, a Mass was celebrated in a tent on the Church property. On Holy Thursday, March 24, 2005, the long awaited certificate of occupancy was received and Mass that evening was celebrated in the main nave of the Church. The Church was formally dedicated on April 9, 2005. Robert Tabbert is the pastor of the parish.

It has been brought to our attention that there is a scam text message appearing to be from Fr. Jay requesting support. This scam pretends to be Fr. Jay by requesting a favor, donations, gift cards or financial support.

The messages often greet the person by name and have the priests/staff’s name in their closing signature of the message; this is a well-crafted and targeted attack on the Church across the country which has hit our Diocese again. These text/email messages are ‘spoofed’ fakes that should not be responded to or taken seriously by anyone. The best defense against this sort of scam is to raise awareness in the community and not respond or open any worrying attachments. It is Diocesan policy that no priest or staff within the Diocese request any donations in the form of gift cards, PayPal, MoneyGram, etc.

There is already an established process in place on how parishioners can make donations and/or participate in the life of the Parish. Under no circumstances should you respond to these scam requests.
