Join us during the month of August as we take a few weeks to really look at who God is. And in the series, we are going to focus on a few characteristics of God that seem to contradict one another. In Exodus 34:6-7, God calls Himself, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished, he punishes the children and their children for the sins of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.”

The God of scripture refuses to become less compassionate in order to be just; or less just in order to be compassionate. And this is confusing. Because sometimes I am sure he needs to be compassionate while he is just and other times I want him to bring justice when he chooses mercy. And how can you be both just and merciful at the same time? It just doesn’t make sense to the human mind.

Let’s wrestle through these concepts together. 10 AM each Sunday.

The Gospel completely reverses how most of us naturally think about change. Religion says: Behave correctly so maybe you can belong. But the Gospel says: Because of Jesus, you are welcomed, adopted, loved, and brought near first—and from that belonging, your life begins to change.

This weekend, we’ll continue our deep dive into Romans 8, which reminds us that sanctification is not primarily behavior management; it is learning to live in relationship with the God who now dwells within His people. This weekend the church celebrates Pentecost, which announced that the Spirit of God no longer lives in temples made by human hands. He now dwells in ordinary broken people redeemed by Jesus Christ. And real transformation begins when we slow down enough to trust, recognize, and respond to His presence. We’d love to have you join us as we learn to walk one step closer to Jesus each day.
